Anyone had surgery with mr traynor and not stopped smoking?
I asked him in surgery if it was necessary to stop and he just said it would help but don’t have to. My PC said I have to though.
I’m really trying to stop but it’s so hard.
I would like to know this too, I’m really struggling to quit and I have mr traynor too xx
I’ve been told I had to give up 2 weeks before my op! It always states this in some of the paper work I’ve signed! But I have seen other comments on here where girls haven’t given up and have smoked 20mins before their ops!! I’m trying my hardest, but failing badly! I’ve just bought myself a vape to help! I’ve noticed I’m eating a lot of crap the last few days of trying to give up!! Not been one to pig out on crisps and chocolate BUT this week I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate ???? so today I started using the vape, trying to drink more water or eating fruit if I feel the need to eat something!! I’ve never been a big eater!!!! so glad I’m not the only one struggling! My friend gave up with no problems before her surgery! Xx
I was told to give up 2 weeks before I was on 15 a day before and I’m the last 2 week I cut down to 4 a day then 3 days before I totally gave up and I was eating everything in sight. I was told they can take a carbon monoxide test on the day of your surgery randomly so I focused on that I’m sure it takes 3 – 5 days for it to get out your system… I wasn’t tested mind and started again three days after. Peons shouldn’t of but I enjoy it so much I could not resist! It can cause complications as nicotine thinnens the blood but I’m 2 weeks PO and nurse said on Tuesday I’m healing well xx
I’m booked for the 1st August Amanda, when are you booked in? Xx
I’m booked in 19th July Nicole. I’m so excited but having to stop smoking is really stressing me out and taking the excitement away if you know what I mean. I’ve tried cold turkey and lasted two days. I was a nightmare. My bf was ready to leave me ????
I’m thinking of trying a vape but again going to need to wean off nicotine before my op.
Ah I’m totally with you on this it’s the hardest thing to stop, I keep trying and after a few hours I’m ready to flip so I end up having one lol! I’ve been trying to use my vape too but it’s really harsh on my chest and just doesn’t satisfy my craving roperly. I’ve stopped no problem through both of my pregnancies and it didn’t bother me but I think because I was growing babies they came first so smoking just wasn’t an option, but with this like I realllllly want this op it will change my life in so many ways, but I still can’t get the determination to quit. And it makes me eat like a proper piggy when I don’t smoke too lol xxx
I’m nearly 6wpo I had my last cigarette the day before and I had one when I left the Fitzroy. My recovery was pain free, I was uncomfortable but not in pain. I’ve not had any problems but everyone’s different!
X
I didn’t stop hunny just didn’t smoke on the day of op now 8 day post op and had my week check yesterday all healing perfect so smokings not affected xx
I’ve been told I need to stop smoking also, I’m trying but in my job stress is high and it’s making it ten times harder! I have read some people’s comments previously however and people said they haven’t quit! But my op isn’t for a while so I suppose this gives me some more time x
