Hi ladies
Just sharing a progress picture. This is my 4wpo (well, one day from being 4wpo) picture.
I had some problems very early on. My breast band was originally placed wrongly by my nurse at the hospital. I will upload some pics just so you fresh out of surgery girls know how NOT to have it!
As a result of that, my boobs are badly miss-shapen. I felt like a walking freak show when my nurse took off my strapping at my 1wpo appointment. I took my mum with me to that – I have never seen that woman look so absolutely heart broken before. She wanted to burst into tears for me, I could tell. I’d just spent thousands to look like an extra from the circus.
As a result of that, I’m having to attend extra appointments where I go back to clinic every week.
The only thing I can do is wait to see how things turn out, but both my nurse and I am absolutely amazed / thrilled that they seem to be healing with some sort of normalilty.
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with them so far. One day they look horrendous and I’m in tears and the next day they look completely normal. I guess it’s all part of the healing but with the added stress that I’ve had, some days I question my own sanity.
MYA fitzroy got in touch with me directly to apologise and to let me know what they plan on doing to stop this happening to any one else.
I did ask the nurse at fitzroy to check my band twice as it was just so uncomfortable, was squashing my nipples and that I couldn’t breathe. Her response was that it wasn’t supposed to be comfortable and sent me on my way.
Please, please, PLEASE get your band position checked by two separate nurses, ladies. If I’d have done that, I wouldn’t have had the problems at the start. I know that you shouldn’t have to really but… the reason I’m sharing this experience is to advise anyone considering BA to be extra careful, double check every single thing and to realise that if you DO happen to face problems, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel after all!
Sorry, my original post should have read “WERE badly miss-shapen”, not “ARE badly miss-shapen”. It won’t let me edit the original post.
I’m the happiest I’ve been now at 4wpo! 🙂
Wow what a journey you have had. I’m sure that feeling was awful at 1 week post op. Was the band just crazy low down? That’s how it looks, rather than high up.
However, they look amazing now!! You should be so pleased. They’re perfect!
Xxxx
I can’t understand why the nurse would put the strap right over the top of your boob. It’s obviously the strap is used to encourage the implants to not rise up or to sort of encourage them to relax/drop. Just don’t get why the nurse would do that. Crazy! Did the surgeon not say anything when he checked you after? Xxxx
I feel I need a picture of how it should be worn now to check I have it on correctly ???????? xxx
God it’s crazy why she has done that. I wondered what the blue was. Poor you. So glad you have told others so they can be more aware also. At least all is well now after as they look amazing!
Not sure how to tag someone in a comment, can I ask how you do that? Just @and their name!? Xxx
@nikki1988 yep! But you have to go into their profile to see what their username is. That’s how I do it anyway!
I have another appointment at 1pm today so I’ll update with what the nurse says! X
Omg this is really bad practice, I’m so glad you are healing well now and your boobs look amazing!! So glad there was no perminent damage for you! This is your body at the end of the day, the nurses should be properly trained and know what they are doing!! I would say this is a training fault not the individual nurse x
@nikki1988 Ah that’s a shame! Let me know how you get on. Is it strapping removal for you today? Xx
@cher1234 Thank you honey!! I’m over the moon with how they’ve changed so far. I’m only 4 weeks in.. I can’t wait to see them get better.
They’re creating a protocol where a nurse will position the band and ensure it’s sitting in its proper position and then another nurse will have to check it to sign it off. I’m just really glad that the chances of it happening to someone else are now extremely low.
I originally felt reluctant to share as I didn’t want to come across negatively towards MYA at all; as apart from that band, they’ve been nothing short of amazing. I just wanted to let other girls know to get it checked if they’re unsure! Xx
He was really pleasant I though too! Wasn’t cold towards me at all either. I suppose that’s good that their going to step it up abit. I’m going to double check everything before I leave after surgery. I did still be fuming tho lol xx
Mine was crooked after placement by nurse and I was in absolutely agony – left breast was bulging out underneath strap and right one strapped in. Have tried to put it back straight myself (not easy!) and having had no calls from MYA since op 2 days ago I’ve now left message with nurse to check if strap should be across nipples I.e. Middle of boobs, or above them?
