Hi girls, I’ve booked my BA on 20th October but I feel like I’m trying to talk myself out of it because I’m terrified of needles & the thought of not being in control when having a general makes me feel sick π I’ve wanted this done for 7 years now & now it’s finally happening I feel absolutely terrified!! I’m keeping myself up at night thinking about it, did anyone else feel like this & does anyone have any advice? I feel so stupid, I’m so excited to finally have boobs but I’m working myself up about it π xx
Hiya lovely, I had my op yesterday and I’m absolutely petrified of needles and being put to sleep (I’ve had a bad experience being put to sleep) but honestly there is nothing to be worried about! They are amazing at mya, I had to just keep telling myself to lye back and let be what will be! I know it’s hard when your scared of needles but just try to think of your new boobies π xxx
i was scared but i didnt look and i honestly felt no pain – when they were giving me my anaesthetic they were making jokes to make me laugh and feel more comfortable and next thing i know im waking up again. dont let your fear put you off what is a positive life changing experience. im so glad i went through with it π xx
Hi I’m exactly the same as you in that the anaesthetic is worrying me simply from a “not being in control” sort of way. I just think to be laying there ready to be put to sleep is a scary thought. Also worrying I’ll say something stupidly embarrassing when I’m brought round and in a doze like state!! I worry that worrying about it will actually make me say something ridiculous!
I’m not needle phobic just not looking forward to not being in control, totally asleep and in the hands of the surgical team…. totally helpless!! As I type this I’m almost putting myself off it! I’m booked for 7th Nov but not MYA x
I have been terrified of needles since i was 8 years old after a bad dentist experience. Had many a time where I have passed out with injections and bloodtests but as I have got older I use distraction as a method of calming myself, generally try to sing a song in my head or talk to whoever else is in the room. I had a septoplasty a few years back and ended up getting the nurse to hold my hand while they fitted the canula in my other hand haha. I have had 2 general anaesthetics before and have had a great experience both times so I have no worries about my BA op in a couple of weeks. I plan to tell them my phobia of needles on the day (which will be followed by me being laughed at as I am covered in tattoos!). They must get plenty of patients with that anxiety so will be helpful with keeping you calm π
Booked in for sat 26th august and I’m petrified like you, I put a post up a few days back about the same thing, will let you know how it goes….grrr another sleepless night tonight ???? Xx
Thank you so much girls for replying, I really appreciate itβ€οΈ (Unsure how to tag) I will definitely bear everything said in mind, it’s so hard, I feel like I’m the only one which is so ridiculous lol so it’s comforting to know I’m not be only one! Thank you Annie & Sara that’s so reassuring!! Also good luck with your new boobies girls, how exciting!!! Please keep me posted xxxxx
I know its totally different op. But i haf ivf an had to have my eggs removed from my ovaries. I panicked when I had a general an recall the ceiling moving or my eyes felt like they were rocking about. When I book my BA I will ensure I just breathe calmly an close my eyes to make it all feel natural. Lol best of luck chick. I am sure you will be fine. X
Had the op today, i was so frightened.
I’ve had CBT for my needle phobia but i’m still bad.
I requested to be first on the list so that i wasn’t waiting around feeling worse.
The staff at the hospital in Preston were amazing, so patient, explaoned everything each step of the way.
I have’t slept in moths over the worry of being put to sleep etc but their kindness made it go a lot smoother than i could have imagined.
Speak about you worries as soon as you arrive #needlephobia
