Hi just wanted to share my story so far. Had he longest wait ever on the day of surgery but totally worth the wait. I had 550 cc overs with Dr netri and didn’t go down for surgery until 5pm. Was admitted at 11pm so by then was more than ready.
I must say that after reading good reviews of the first trust hospital I felt a little disappointed with the poor communication on the day. There was alot of confusion over who had already done what and when. I had two different aneithatists go through all the questions and the second didn’t know someone else had been in. He was like your with me today. I was so confused but on the plus side two is better than none. After 12:00 I didn’t see anyone until 4:30pm and felt forgotton about. Not one person came in to ask if I was ok or told my friend where to get a drink. I was never told where the toilet is. Besides all this I remained positive and thought well I’m here now and may aswell carry on waiting and napped and watched the horse races on tv. So quite a relaxing afternoon lol. My best friend just curled up like a baby with her bum sticking up and fell asleep and I just left her like that haha. It was finally my turn and went down with a lovely lady who chatted away keeping me entertained whilst she placed the canular in. Then the annesthatist came in and reassured me and off to sleep I went. I woke up over an hour later chatted crap and was told I was thrashing on the bed at one point bit I was none the wiser. I looked down at my chest and said omg I have boobies yay!
I returned to the room and waited for something to eat. I pushed my luck and asked if my friend could have a cuppa too and some toast. All I could think about was food food food.
Anyway I had my drains removed and was finally discharged at 21:40. The longest day of my life. Although I’m sure this isn’t he same experience for others I just want to let you know to keep an open mind and stay positive no matter how long the wait. If you do find out it is a late surgery ask them about water etc because I had my last water at 09:00 am and was a long thirsty day let me tell you. I will try to post some pics of me looking a little high on painkillers but don’t care as I have boobies xxx
