Hi guys, I have my op October 22nd and am taking a week off work. I work for myself and so can’t really take any longer than that as my customers need me. However I’ve just read on this website that they advise 14 days before you begin driving again. I know everyone is different in their recovery but did anyone begin driving before that? My job means I drive around a lot, and I really don’t think I can take any more time off so I’m hoping 7 days would be enough?

Hey Hun. I was told if I had a manual car it was 2 weeks and automatic car 1 week. I’m currently 9DPO and tbh I feel I could drive if I really needed to xx

Hey! I’m 9dpo, my nurse told me on my 7dpo that I could drive now if I feel safe to do so. I drove the day but only to the town centre which is 10 minutes away from where I live and I haven’t drove since.
My recovery has been a breeze, no pain just a pressure. But using my left arm for my gears and turning the steering wheel was harder than I thought it would be. If you drive a lot for your job I would say 7 days is too early. Are you having overs or unders?
Oh I must say that I’m not with mya so your nurse may advise different xx

Hi am 9 days po and I started drive on Saturday, been quite far too!! Only thing I find a bit uncomfortable is changing into 5th gear and it needs pushing down and moving across, so can feel it on my chest and left implant other than that it’s a breeze, also keep my arms and hands together and feed the steering wheel thru rather than the usual crossing arms over and waving them about everywhere lol xx

@witwoolou oh god, I can’t stand the feeding my hands through the wheel instead of crossing haha! Xx

Thanks guys, I have an automatic so it should be easy enough! lol

Having my surgical consultation today (i booked the op before even having it haha) so i guess i’ll find out if it will be unders or overs, think i want unders but will see what the surgeon says and i know that will take longer to heal.

Although they say unders takes longer to heal, I had Partials and my recovery has been great, I know I’m not fully healed or anything but I have full movement back in my arms and I’m not in pain.

Which surgeon are you seeing? X

Maybe I will have partials. My surgical consultation is tonight so i can’t wait to actually know what I can have and what size.

Glad to hear you’re not in pain Hannah. I have a hectic life as I’m a single mum to twin boys and literally have to go straight back to work the week after i have my surgery so I will need my car.

My surgeon is Dr Mashhadi who I haven’t really read much about on here, but I’m hoping I’ll feel more comfortable after the consultation today. I’m having an uplift too though so not sure if there could be more pain from that.

I drove after a week hun.. Just found it difficult to park up or turn corners.. had to drive like a learner without crossing arms over but it was fine xx

i have partials and drove after I got my strapping off so would have been 8dpo
only thing uncomfortable was getting into 5th or reverse – parking up having to look right over shoulder was hard due to felt like it was pulling my skin.
    but that’s it xx
