I have my operation in the 26th September with Dr Traynor and wondered how long people had off work? I work in retail but do quite a lot of delivery how long till people started to get more movement and feel 100% again?
My date is 21st September- I’ve taken 16 days off a fairly physical job. Im preying its long enough. Im having unders.
i am having unders ( my friend did also ) i have booked one week as that’s all i have left. My friend also only took one week off and was back to work after. However driving was difficult, especially when pushing down the gearstick to reverse. But everything else was fine for her, so i am hoping i will be the same. I will get cabin fever otherwise, a week is enough for me. Things like lifting your arms up, washing your hair would still be hard at this point, but i suppose it totally depends on your job, or role. I am. Desk/ office based . If you have a manual job, then i suspect it would be a lot longer. Lifting anything at all is not recommended for at least 6 weeks!
I think it depends on your job! Ask your surgeon to see what they recommend.
My surgeon has requested I take 4 weeks off after my op because of how physical it is and I have to use my arms and chest muscles quite a bit! I’m gonna be climbing the walls! But if that’s what I’ve got to do then I’ll have to just stay at home and stare at my new girls lol x
I had unders and I’m a dog groomer which involves lifting dogs, I took two weeks off but only lift the smaller dogs, have to have help with the larger ones if that’s any help haha. x
I only took 5 days off (including surgery day) as I work in a retail opticians and just avoided lifting any of our deliveries, if we got busy I just took everything at a slow pace and was fine. I had an easy recovery though, I had partials but suffered no pain
i’m having 350 HP under the muscle! I’m gunna take one week off work and hopefully that will be enough! Eke I’m so so excited!! It’s gunna be worth all the pain! I can’t wait! Thanku everyone xxx
I had 375cc unders and I’m a barber, so I use my arms a lot. I took two weeks off work and felt that was more than enough, although I went crazy being at home all that time! They say at least one week, depending on your job x
I work in retail. I took off 2 weeks as had uplift, reduction and unders. You won’t be able to lift the totes and boxes for 6 weeks they are way too heavy. I just did light duties
I’m 8dpo and have like another 14 days before I’m due to go back to work. My work involves a lot of heavy lifting.
How did you guys go around asking for light duties when you returned to work?
I haven’t told my boss/manager about my surgery. It’s a very male oriented environment and fee uncomfortable telling them.
Any advice? Would a doctor give me a doctor note to say light duties or. ?
Thank you xx
i’m getting a week sick note from my doctor and then will ask for light duties when i return to work, I’m not telling them what i’ve had done, just saying surgery, i think my work would be bit funny if they knew! My nurse at Mya in newcastle also said when i go to visit for my post op she will give me a note explaining about light duties. xx
Hi Abbie,
I’m on the 26th with Mr Traynor too. Having 275 hp unders. Xx
I had thought about getting a note but the doctor can wrìte ‘cosmetic’ surgery in which case they’d know&I wouldn’t get paid as its in my contract no sick pay for cosmetic surgery. Also a note from the clinic would have clinics name on it so same issue there. Ive taken 16 days with AL and DO and im hoping that will be enough.
