Hey
I’m after some post surgery info.
When did people start driving again???
My ops not until December but I can’t take too much time off uni after having it done.
Uni is an hours drive from my house.
How long did people wait before they drive again??
I started at 2 weeks. I have a manual car. I’ve read that those with an automatic have started after 1 week. There’s no way I could’ve done it sooner than 2 weeks, 5th gear and reverse felt really weird/horrible, like a strange pulling feeling. I’m almost 3wpo now and have just about got used to it x
I have auto and started driving 4 days after! Xxx
So I suppose it’s down to how well your recovering. I have to be back at uni 5dpo. Xx
Yeah I struggled with manual car, couldn’t get it into 5th/6th until around 3 weeks. I did little local trips at 2 weeks but stayed in 4th haha! Automatics are meant to be easier x
Hi I am 6DPO and drove today felt perfectly fine but I had overs having unders maybe more uncomfortable xx
I drove with an automatic at 7dpo and manual at 8dpo. It was rather difficult (I have a huge 64 reg transporter) but I preferred manual over the automatic merely because it was newer and the steering wheel was lighter.
I had partials. I was rather achey after a drive though xx
Around 10 days for a manual. I had unders tho, it was still qyite uncomfortable, dont think i could of managed an hour.
I had unders and tried at one week, gears were ok but I found I couldn’t get comfy with the seatbelt. After a few days it was like normal again xx
Thanks for all the advice girls. I’m having overs so I really hope I can get back to driving quite quickly xx
I’m hoping to do 2 x 10 minute journeys in my automatic 3 days after op…..am I crazy?!
I had overs and drove after a week and was driving 40 mins to and from work after 10 days I was absolutely fine 🙂 xx
My job involves a lot of driving. And in a manual car. I do have city steering and it’s a new car so pretty comfortable to drive. I’m hoping/expecting to be ok to drive 13 days post op. I can let you know how that goes. My op is 8th November lol.
@clare I drive a manual car and I found that trying to turn/pull the steering wheel was more of a strain than actually trying to change gears. I started driving after a week and it didn’t feel right. It really pulled on my boobs and strained them. I should have left it until 2 weeks but I have to drive to get to work. So i would personally say 2 weeks before you start driving again. This is also what I was advised my my nurse as well xx
