Hi girls!
So I’ve been looking through the paperwork and as you all may be aware, on the day in surgery you are asked to come “as born” meaning no make-up, perfume, nails, etc ….
I am planning to come without anything but will it be necessary to remove gels (shellac) from my feet as I’m sure I will be wearing the special surgery socks …. does anyone know if the nurse will actually check your feet before you get dressed? or just before surgery?
I know it may sound silly but my surgery is next month and if they don’t check your feet then maybe I could get away with shellac on my feet..
Please let me know, any advice from girls that had their surgery and what the procedure was with the nurse xxx
My nurse did ask if I had shellac on my feet. I just removed it the night before and re did them the morning after my op 🙂 x
Did she go out her way to actually check once you changed or before?
Thank you X
It’s really important for the anaesthetist and nurses during the surgery to check the circulation in your hands and feet- they do that by looking at your bare nail bed- so it’s definitely in your best interests to take off the shellac for your safety during surgery xx
Your toes pop or of the end anyway if I remember rightly xx
Sorry to be incredibly boring and safe, but they did check mine. The nurse was really good even noticed a bruise I already had on my leg! I personally wouldn’t want to risk not having the BA for the sake of gels. And wouldn’t feel comfortable lying to them when they ask in case anything went wrong xx
Your toes pop out the end of the socks so they’ll definitely be able to tell. Small price really removing due to safety
I was really worried about the nail issue so before my op I rung my nurse and she said I can remove the acrylics off my index fingers.
Driving to my op and I realised I hadn’t taken them off so I bit them off, half bitten off I asked if this was okay or did they need to be completely off and my nurse said oh bless you you should have just left them on! I asked could I have done that and she was like yeah what would they have done, sent u home?
Lol!
Yes during your op your toes will be visible at all times so they can see the colour of your nail beds as the other ladies have said. defo not worth it for a couple of days without!
X
I had nail polish on my toes (I took remover with me in case) but told this was fine it was fingers they were concerned with…. my feet were covered anyway but I didn’t go with mya xx
You need to think that is it really worth wearing shellac for a week for a surgery you have paid so much money for! It’s only toes at the end of the day! So what the paperwork says, better safe than sorry! Imagine if they sent you home because you didn’t follow procedure … not worth it Hun xxxx
