Hi Hannah, obviously I’m no professional! But my understanding of capsular contracture is that there isn’t any saying if it’s likely to happen to you or not. I think girls usually start to see it happening from six months but it can come on years afterwards. Antibiotics at the time of surgery can help, and some say that unders rather than overs can prevent it, due to the constant massage of the implant by the muscle reducing the scar tissue building up around the implant and compressing it. Basically it’s your own immune systems reaction to a foreign body. There’s tons of info online to read about it but I hope this helps. (Anybody can feel free to correct me if I’ve got any of it wrong!) xxx
