Last minute decisions on op day Started by: Serena

I had my surgeon consultation with Dr Fiumara on 7th November, it was a little rushed as I gather most are but I was happy and booked my surgery. I had arranged a second consultation with her for the same date as my pre op (12th Dec) to go over maybe a slightly larger size and also I wanted to see about having partials instead of unders, but I was told a few days before that it was cancelled as she was on sick leave. I was told she wouldn’t be back in until new year and to try again then.
I called them yesterday but she’s filled booked until the day AFTER my op… ( I have my op on the 22nd of Jan ). I was told to speak to my PC and see if she can convey any questions to my surgeon, but will they be able to discuss things such as size and placement without me there?
Or is this something that can literally be decided on the day of my operation with my surgeon? I’m trying not to let it get me down!
Sorry for the essay lol xx

Your surgeon will have needed to order in the implants for you so unless the size was one you discussed it probably won’t be possible to change on the day. Most surgeons seem to offer a range of sizes for op day from what I hear and make the final decision on the day which is fine. I would definitely speak to your pc asap see if she can do anything about getting u an appointment or at least a phone call with your surgeon. Things like partials are really the surgeons decision. Not all surgeons actually do partials (I don’t know about her) but I wouldn’t say that would be able to be changed on op day if even at all. X

Yeah I’ve kind of accepted that I won’t be able to go bigger and honestly I’m alright with that, she’s ordering me 350/375/400 so I’ll just stress on the day I’d prefer the biggest she can fit.
I text my PC yesterday but she hasn’t got back to me yet… maybe I’ll try giving the clinic a call tomorrow.

Dr F said that I have quite a decent amount of breast tissue (just not at the top) which is why I’m so keen to ask about partial placement – I was in a bit of a daze at the initial consultation and all my questions went out of my head!
I’ll see what my PC says when she gets back to me, thanks so much for your reply 🙂 x

I’m sure she’ll give you the 400 on the day that won’t be a problem. I had 3 sizes ordered and said go for the biggest and my surgeon was fine with that. I would but definitely stress to your pc you need to talk to her like I get she’s busy but they cancelled on you and it’s important. Definitely ring and even ask to speak to a nurse or anyone who can talk to your surgeon. Is she planning on going under or over the muscle? If it’s under I can’t imagine partial would be too much different for her. X

I’m booked to have unders. When I saw her she said unders, said I had enough tissue to maybe do overs but then decided against that as I don’t have much tissue up top so could ripple there, but that should be okay with partials shouldn’t it?
Definitely worth me asking I guess, I’ll give them a call in the morning! I just hope they’d be able to sort this without me actually seeing her.
    Thanks xxx

I’ve read on hear a lot of people change last minute. Is there any reason you want partials instead of going under the muscle? I’m similar to yourself in regards to less breast tissue at the top, I really want them to look as natural as possible and my surgeon said to go under as going over weren’t really an option without them looking fake. I’m booked in 16th jan super excited but a little nervous. I hope all goes well for you 🙂 xxx

I don’t think there’s a massive difference but it does seem as if you get a little extra fullness from partials (and overs) and since I can’t ask for bigger anymore it might give me a tiny bit more size, as they say you lose a little cc with unders.
I think I’ll be happy either way but I just want to have my surgery knowing I chose the best option, or at least tried.
Ah yours is so soon! You must be getting excited? I hope it goes well, good luck 🙂 xx
