Hi Emily
Not long to wait now! I have a very tiny frame and I haven’t had my op yet and hope to achieve a big but not fake look.
There are many different factors in deciding where you place the implant. Importantly, it depends on how much breast tissue you have now. So for me I would have to go under the muscle since I have very little tissue which wouldn’t cover the implants well and may show rippling. If you have a good amount of tissue then you can have overs or can still choose unders. If you’re having overs then you probably have enough breast tissue to cover them and any rippling, or else your surgeon would have mentioned it.
There are advantages of both, so you’ll be in less pain since the surgery is less invasive, have a quicker recovery, and it’s easier to check for any ruptures in an MRI scan, you can also get bigger implants and achieve bigger sizes since the muscle won’t be associated (so with unders, the muscle compresses them a little, achieving a more natural look)
The bigger the size you go for the ‘faker’ it will look, so if you go for a size that’s proportional to your body then their is no need to worry about looking fake.
I hope this clears it up a little.
Good luck with the op! X
