Hello, I thought I’d write about my day of surgery at Preston, just to help anyone who is going for it and can get nervous like me!
The day- I arrived just before 8 and was greeted well and taken to my room by a lovely nurse, she had brought a heater into my room because the heating had been turned off, thought this was lovely as she really didn’t have too! Went through all my medical details then did pregnancy test and all that was all good to go! Eventually seen others and Mr Traynor drew on me and told me 30 mins to go!
The nurse came and got me put me on the bed To put me to sleep which was fine honestly nothing to be scared of! and I was out- went down at 11 was back to my room at 12:45 and discharged at 15:30 but they let me wait in my room to be picked up! lovely people!
The hospital- I’ve never been to such a nice hospital, smelt and looked so clean, and the staff there are truly amazing, could not have been in better hands at all, about 5 different nurses/doctors came to check things and were fantastic, I suffer really badly with nerves and my heart rate was something stupid like 108/90 so a specialist checked that and helped me to calm down which I did and managed to lower my rate, what we all have to remember is it’s one day, and we are asleep then up eating toast and drinking tea- as basic as that sounds never had something taste so delicious needed it so badly!
The nurses were beautiful, kept bringing me ice and water and offering biscuits or anything I needed! Fab at their jobs!
The surgeon- I had Mr Traynor and what can I say a truly amazing person, I had trouble getting booked to begin with due to suffering won’t Colitis but this man has helped me through everything and been nothing but kind and considerate throughout my journey! He has always laughed and joked with me and even gave me a little pat on the head and cuddle to calm my nerves! fantastic surgeon! managed to fit 275cc in which was a push which we also laughed about because I’m tiny literally! but he did it, I will be able to add pictures when I feel a bit more up to it, as they say the second day is truly worse haha, not unbarable pain but definitely need the help of someone to do the basics!
All in all fab day, any questions ask literally anything!!
Hi lovely, so glad it went okay! Were you pretty calm when it came to them putting you to sleep? I’m also such a nervous person and I can already tell I’m going to be very similar on the day! X
Honestly when the surgeon had been it really calmed me, and the room for being put to sleep was just a little room and they wrap you up with a blanket and honestly I was so scared of the needles but when it came to it, it happened so fast that I didn’t even feel a single needle, it was like someone just tapping your hand, I’m the biggest worrier going and I’d do it all again if I had too! You’ll be in the best hands just enjoy the day! Always here if you need to message someone that was just as anxious! Xxx
Thank you so much tha has definitely made me feel so much better!! I think it’s just the thought of it at the moment! xx
