Just thought I would write a post about my op day which was yesterday.
So i was at the Preston First Trust Hospital with Mr Traynor, Admission Time was 8am, arrived and checked in, to be then greeted by a lovely man called Alan he was one of the RGNs, taken to my room made comfy and had a chat about what was going to happen all day ect.. all my obs taken then the doctor came round and the anethasist who were both lovely explained everything and answered any questions I had to then seeing my surgeon who came to mark me up and explain my procedure, risks and sign some forms.. to be told I was second on the list for my surgery that wouldn’t be long of a wait.. was quite anxious all morning but Alan kept me in good spirits right up until I went down to theatre. The anethasists assistant come down to see me and went through everything again as they have to check over and over so there are no mistakes made. 11.45 I went down to theatre and was reassured and kept calm while I was getting put to sleep (was my biggest fear) to then wakening up and asking if it was done lol.. taken back to my room where they made sure I was comfortable and brought me a drink (thank goodness because I was parched before I went to theatre) when they then gave me some toast, my surgeon then came to see me to let me know everything well and to see if i was okay, i was then checked over a few times before I was discharged..
All in all my experience was amazing and I can’t fault the staff what so ever they were all lovely.. I worried so badly about op day and had to be reassured so much by others and I wish I really took their advice.. so please girls try not to worry (better said than done) but honestly it’s was an amazing day..
Now 1 day post op I am happy with my results so far but have convinced myself they arnt going to change lol but Its far to early to say and I need to patient.. have no pain just aching and abit stiff but keeping ontop of my pain relief … also had not so much a bad experience today but I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics they give us (co-amoxiclav) but nothing to bad just temp and burning skin which I rang my nurse who told me to stop taking them.. have an antihistamine and if it’s no better to go to get checked over.. other than that brilliant experience 🙂
How soon was you let out to go home after op my biggest panic as by the time I have it done il have 3 children under 3″ so don’t want to be back late as its 3hours drive for me x
Demi if this is your first op (not sure) I would just be prepared for all situations, I was a day case went down for my op first was back in room for 11 but due to never having anesthetic (sp?) before I literally slept alllll day, and they wouldn’t discharge me so I had to stay over night. I also have two young children so under stand the difficulty but just be ready encase you do have to stay or don’t recover immediately as I’d imagined I would, looking back I was greatful for the extra stay and rest in the hospital xxx
Hey! They discharged me around 3pm I got out of recovery at around half 12 as they have to keep an eye on you for upto atleast 3 hours depending on how you are, but I come round pretty quick and was wide awake and alert for the rest of the day wasn’t sick either.. so really all depends how you are afterwards x
