Mya have sent a letter to my dr, I’m guessing to make sure I’m fit for surgery. I have today received a letter from my gp to state I need to pay £75 for the letter! Does anyone know if a copy of my medical history is enough for mya or if it does indeed actually need to be a letter from the gp? I feel £75 is a lot of money for a few sentances from a dr!

£75 is a ridiculous price I had to pay £10 for mine and it literally said I’ve been on no long term medication and have been with them for however many years. What is it you’ve requested from your doctor? I don’t understand why it would be so much for something so simple x

I haven’t requested anything from the gp, I signed a form at the initial consultation for mya to send a letter to my gp so I’m guessing this is what it’s for? That’s why I’m thinking maybe medical history print off would be fine.. this is stressful lol! X

Up to a certain point Your gp can charge whatever they like to provide records to a third party. My gp didn’t charge me anything, I was lucky x

Yeah I understand there is a cost of them writing an actual letter, but I just want to know if a copy of my medical history printed off & sent to mya would be enough as there is no cost for a copy of medical history..
did you have to provide an actual letter? Xx

Hey! As part of the MYA journey we have to provide a medical summary which I had printed off whilst I was seeing my doctor for something and I didn’t pay anything. I sent it off and I’ve since had MYA contact my gp for further details ( I have a history of anxiety and depression) I should know tomorrow fingers crossed that it’s enough and as far as I know it won’t cost me anything. So what I’m saying is that a print off copy of your medical summary may not be enough as a request for further info may be required. Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly. X

I just had to provide the GP summary which was free, printed out by the receptionist at my GP practice. Was sufficient in my case. I wasn’t asked for anything else.
I guess it may vary depending on people’s medical history and on whether they need more info

Hi everyone, so on my initial consultation after my surgeon consultation (they were on the same day) I was given a letter and was told to take it to my gp, do I just take it to the receptionist or do I need an appointment with my gp to give it to him? Reading on here it’s just to get my medical history/summary.
    Thanks guys x

Hi, I dropped the form into the surgery reception and had a phone call with gp requesting a full medical summary which I picked up later that day. Hope that helps x

So if I put it in an envelope and pass it to reception for my gp? I don’t want to get it wrong ???? x

Yes, I just called my doctors to change an appointment, asked them about it and she said there may be a charge…..to access my own medical information what a joke! Lol! X

I got stung with that one too!
I sent my medical summary across to mya from gp which was free, had an email today to say a letter about my anxiety is needed from the gp.. £75 charge!! Ridiculous!
As long as you don’t have any underlying medical issues, you should be fine to just send off a med summary which is free xx

Hi, I had this issue with my doctors I went into the reception and passed the letter on and asked if I could have my medical summery faxed over they said yes but will be £25 charge obviously I had to pay but was a bit shocked this was 2 weeks ago called in yesterday and asked what was happening as may still havnt received it they told me there had been a mix up and because it was a summary they needed I shouldn’t have been charged so they are going to refund me I had a call from mya today to confirm my surgeon consultation and I asked they said yes they have eventually sent it across but only half so they was on the phone to them to sort it out. Mya are good when it comes to this as they have the right to call the doctors surgery to get information so I wouldn’t worry incase there was a mistake or anything as mya can phone but make sure you keep in contact with mya to make sure they have received it.
    Hope this helps x

That does help, I didn’t think to get it emailed or faxed to them, probably easier! Thank you for your help x
