Hi ladies,
I have booked in for a labiaplasty and hoodectomy in the next couple months. I’ve been doing lots of research and feel dr Ibraheim would be the best surgeon for this procedure as he spealisies in this area.
My only concern is how quickly I would be able to go back to work. They said at my consultation I wouldn’t need any longer than a week, but I have a very active job so I have allowed 13 days off before returning, but I am still very very anxious this won’t be long enough. Just wondered if someone could share how long they had off before returning to an active job and if you felt completely comfortable and able to return.
Thank you!
Hi. I’m 3 weeks nearly 4 post op. My surgery went completely fine, although I unfortunately developed a hematoma which I had to have a second surgery to drain and stitch again. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m healing quite well but there is a lump on the side I had the hematoma and I’m worried it won’t go away? If anyone has experienced this would be great to hear your feedback
Hi, I’m 12 days post op are you just having the minora and hoodectomy or majora too? I had all three and I’m still not able to sit down or walk properly but that’s because of the majora, the rest felt okay after a week or so x
Hi, I’m just having minora and hoodectomy so I’m really hoping a couple weeks will be okay! How have you found recovery so far? Any tips or tricks that you found have worked well? X
Hi,
I’m almost 10 weeks post-op and work in a very active job.
I took 2 weeks off work, 4 weeks off exercise (fast pace/heavy) & 6 weeks off cycling. I had Labia Minora with slight Hoodectomy.
I washed myself every time I went to the bathroom with warm salty water and cotten pads then washed the remaining water over myself after and dried with hairdryer for the 2 weeks. When I showered I sat and bathed with a wet clean flannel. I rested, A LOT, slept on my back and took the paid meds as recommend. I did get constipated (silly of me) so did take something for that. I also then used anti-histamines after a week (before sleep) to help with the itch!
I was very delicate in my bathing, and became more involved as I healed and listened to my body. This worked really well for me, my healing has been absolutely fantastic and very clean.
I will say, don’t be tempted to do a lot after. You’ll be numb and feel OK, just rest and take pressure off the area by sitting right with legs open or you’ll increase swelling.
I have to say, the first 2 weeks is uncomfortable and painful but 100% manageable, just don’t do too much and be kind to yourself.
Week 3-4 was uncomfortable as I was back to work, had my period and wore pants again.
I am so happy now…would I do it again? Yes! 100% yes. Dr Ibraheim is lovely, and knows what he’s doing. Your body goes through lots of changes very quickly that will make you question yourself, don’t panic and try not to look at it too much…just be kind to it with light patting with your salty water.
I have the Real Self App, that has photos of people going through it so I was relieved to see others felt the same.
Happy to discuss further so will keep an eye on any questions here! You’re gonna love it and feel like a new person. 🙂 Kate xx
Hi Kate,
Glad you’re recovering well and pleased with the results!
Thank you so much for all of that advice, want to prepare myself as much as possible for what to expect.
Trying not to worry, but getting more and more anxious by the day! but also excited!
Dr Ibraheim recommended the ‘wedge technique’ which sounds better as it results in a more natural look, but I’ve heard horror stories of the scar tissue splitting – this is my biggest worry I think. Is this the method that was used for your procedure and have you had any problems so far? I did mention this to Dr Ibraheim and he reassured me that this is rare.
Thank you xx
Hello!
Try not to worry, I know it’s really scary but you’re in safe hands and they do this daily. The nurses are really lovely too. I was so frightened but it was over fast.
I had no issues like that at all, my healing was excellent. I was very, very kind to myself. I took it easy, rested and tried to not disturb it too much. Don’t poke around or stretch it or try to look. Just trust it and keep it clean with the soaked cotton and salt and dab away. Don’t try to get inside, just listen to your body, don’t force anything. The stitching, I kept it clean but I didn’t bend or push it, I waited for it to heal and was very gentle!
I kept a jug and salt in the bathroom so I did it often, it would be sore but it got better.
Just be confident in him, and yourself and know your body needs to heal and it will take time. I did walk funny for a few weeks, I just embraced it! Hehe.
I read about some people who were fine after a week, I’m not sure how, but maybe there are super-healers among us!

Hi Girls,
I had my consultation with Dr Ibraheim yesterday and he recommended labiaplasty with a slight hoodectomy. I’ve just had a personal loan approved for the surgery and am hoping to book my date for August 22 on Monday! I’m excited and nervous about the surgery and have a few questions about the healing.
Did any of you get a period within the healing stages? If so, how did you find managing using pads/cleaning up?
Do you have any recommendations for things I should stock up with to take to the hospital/post-surgery?
How did you find wearing underwear following surgery?
How long did you wait to have sex following surgery and did you notice any difference to sex prior to surgery?
Thank you in advance! 🙂 xx
Hey,
I haven’t actually had my surgery yet, I am booked in for August 21st! Eek.
I am planning on taking my contraceptive pills back to back to avoid a period whilst healing but I am going to double check at my nurses appointment that this will be okay.
I have heard to take arnica tablets and antihistamines a week before surgery to reduce bruising and prevent itching – again another thing I am going to ask about at my pre surgery appointment and to wash wh salt water every time you go to the toilet. I think I’ll also avoid underwear as much as possible in the first couple weeks to ensure no catching of stitches and then make sure I’m wearing 100% cotton undies! I think it will depend on how your healing process goes, tbh I’m happy to wait as long as need be to make sure all heals well but they recommend 6-8 weeks!
