Hi everyone, got my op booked for 4th September! Now I just need to decide what implants I want

Surgeon has offered 280-320cc nagor implants, partials. He says he has only ever used textured and never used smooth before. I originally thought I wanted smooth because textured can cause BIA ALCL. I think textured are good to prevent CC but only if they’re overs?? Does anyone know anything about textured v smooth or which is best? My surgeon suggested textured but my own research suggest smooth are safer!

    Thankyou xx

Being honest from what I read online I thought smooth was the better option but saying that there are various different brands of implants & they all have plus/minus against eachother so if you trust your surgeon like I did mine then should be fine

Hiya, I was concerned about this too but apparently in the uk the vast majority of implants used are textured. My surgeon explained that the chance of getting ACL is very low roughly 1:30000 and you have much higher odds of getting ‘normal’ breast cancer. I asked if he would use textured in a family member and his answer was most definitely as he believes the pros outweigh the risks so that was good enough for me xx

Thank you both that’s really reassuring! I am very confused why in the UK we mainly used textured but in the US they seem to use smooth. I definitely trust my surgeon but he did say he would order smooth if I felt more comfortable. Going to give it some more thought but just want the safest option xx
