Hi girls I’m booked in to have my surgery on the 30th if November I’m quite nervous but excited at the same time. I am staying over night at the London clinic but I’ve yet to be giving a time for my appointment. I was thinking of getting the train home the day after is this something you would
Recommend as I have no one to collect me and I can’t obviously drive myself?

I had my surgery yesterday and I still feel very sore and groggy and I’m walking very slowly like a penguin! I was advised to rest as much as possible and I don’t think I’d fancy walking through London and having to face a busy tube/train station/steps (stairs are awkward!) and the chance of people knocking me. I’m very cautious though and don’t want to cause any problems that could potentially be avoided. If you think you can manage it then it’s definitely doable as long as you take your time and have plenty of pads and a pillow to sit on etc to make it as comfy as possible but have you considered a taxi? I know it will cost a lot and don’t know how far out from London you need to go but that might be worth it to save you any extra pain or complications xx

Hi Michelle, I had labiaplasty and hoodectomy. I feel okay today just tight and a bit swollen, a little bit of blood but nothing like I was expecting. I have one side much more swollen and tender than the other, when I went for my first wee about 4 hours after surgery it had swollen up like a golf ball compared to the other side which was perfectly normal! Mr Ibraheim had to come in and turned out there had been a clot behind one of the stitches so he had to pull it out and squeeze it clean so that’s sore today but I think that’s the pressure/bruising from him squeezing so hard. I think it’s all pretty normal what you’re experiencing, have you looked on real self? There’s a lot of pics on there of the recovery process which should help you feel more at ease about what you’re experiencing xxx

Hi becki thanks for replying , I have the same in one side , blood is clotting over it , hoping it’ll go down itself ! I also had a tightening which is maybe why it’s so sore . Had a catheter and whenbit was removed this morning I think it disturbed things , I bled a lot and panicked , that’s stopped now but think it’s built up behind one side xx

    Hey!

I had my op on August 10th in Manchester, which is a 5 hour train journey from where I live. London is closer, but I wanted to get my op done as soon as possible and Manchester had the earliest date!
I traveled home alone on the train the day after my op as I didn’t tell anyone I was having it done so obviously nobody to take me home.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it if possible, it was horrible. But if you have no other option, for whatever the reason, it is possible. To make it easier, I’d advise:
    1. Get some pepto-bismol to take with you to use on your journey home. I felt fine in the clinic following my op, but as soon as I got in the taxi to the train station I was so nauseous it was horrendous. I had to then walk from the train station to find a shop to buy some, which was far from ideal! Once I had it though, it was a big help!
    2. Make sure you keep on top of your pain killers, try using just paracetamol and ibuprofen if you can. I had codeine before I left the clinic, it makes me drowsy and it was so hard to stay awake waiting for my train – I’m sure everyone thought I was off my face!
    3. Pack as lightly as you can… Lugging a heavy suitcase around is not the best idea following this op either, so if you can make sure you take one with wheels and use lifts instead of stairs if they’re available!
    4. Try to keep walking to a MINIMUM it was so sore walking around, although sitting on the train wasn’t as bad as I had expected it would be.
    5. I actually drove myself home from my local train station, it was only a 5 minute drive but I’d strongly recommend getting a taxi or someone to pick you up if you can, it wasn’t my best idea.
    6. Wear loose clothing, I wore leggings that were loose and comfortable and kept my TED stockings (the compression socks they give you to stop clots) on underneath.
    6. As you’re having your op in London it would probably be best to take a taxi to the train station rather than using the tube to avoid people jostling you, leave yourself plenty of time as well!

Hope this is helpful 🙂 x

Hi I agree with jessica I travelled home alone on train 3 hrs yesterday No one knew I was away having anything done ! Hey Michelle!
I slept a lot for the first few days, after a week I’d perked up a bit, but the second week I was poorly with a sickness bug so I spent a lot of time in bed!
The bleeding should subside in a day or so, try and rest as much as you can because excessive movement will irritate the stitches and cause more bleeding!
During my healing process, it seemed to change in appearance everyday… just trust your body and if you feel anything might be wrong don’t hesitate to call the clinics, they’re so helpful! I had an issue, (which turned out to be nothing) but when I called they offered me an appointment the same day in the next closest clinic to me as the nurse wasn’t in my local clinic on that day. I couldn’t attended that day for an appointment though, so they gave me an appointment first thing the next morning in my local clinic!
My stitches started to come out around week 3, but everyone is different so don’t panic if they’re still there, they can sometimes take up to 6 weeks to come out – don’t pull at them, just let them do their thing!
I used salt water (boiled water with table salt) twice a day with clean cotton pads, showered twice a day with a clean towel everyday.
Some girls have put on here they they used salt water every time they went to the toilet – I didn’t as I didn’t want to irritate the stitching anymore than necessary, so I just dabbed dry gently with toilet paper and used a cold wet flannel (clean) to dab lighthly on the rare occasion I had any itching or discomfort.
It was awkward walking for around 2 weeks, but just take your time and you’ll be fine!
I also ended up having my period early, I’ve made a post about it on this thread, due to the anaesthetic or stress I’m not sure, but it wasn’t great to content with so early on in my recovery so if you’re taking the pill, I’d suggest to skip the break until you’re feeling more healed 🙂
When I had my op, I had so many worries about everything (not always things I felt justified calling the clinic) and couldn’t always find answers online from girls who have had the op… especially anyone who hadn’t told anyone they had the op. So if there’s anything else at all you want to ask, or chat about feel free to drop me a message 🙂
    Hope this helps! X

Ladies I’m day 2 post op now and the swelling/bruising isn’t too bad (I’m certain the arnica is a miracle worker seeing some pics online!) other than where Mr Ibraheim had to squeeze a clot out…it’s now dark purple! I still have some bleeding from one tiny area and I’m worried a stitch may have come loose? Or am I just being over dramatic and this is totally normal? Feeling very tired also, just keep napping!

Oh no! Just ring your nurse and explain, maybe ask if you can send her a picture so she can give you the right advice? Try not to look/touch it too much as you might over think it. I’m amazed I have barely any bruising and the swelling isn’t as bad today although still much worse on the right side than the left. Still struggling with sitting upright and can’t lie on my side or front so just suffering from lack of sleep more than anything. Let us know what the nurse says! Hope you’re okay xx

Oh that’s good news I bet you feel so relieved now! Good of him to get back to you so quickly! I might have to do that tomorrow, I’m still worried about that one tiny bit that’s still spotting, it’s been fine all day and I’ve just been to the toilet and it’s started bleeding again! Just worried as that’s exactly where the clot was on Saturday. Going to ring the nurse in the morning it’s too late now xx

Becki don’t worry mine is exact same , looks like a stitch is out and there’s a hole but he says it’s ok and I’m still bleeding !! Worse when I move ! I also had a tightening done so not sure where it’s all coming from but apparently it’s normal , feeling tighter and more sore as day going in today . Also are you taking antibiotics ? I’m taking them anyway ? Xx

Is the hole in your labia or where you had the tightening? Mine is okay just the only bit I can feel stinging the rest feels totally okay that’s why I’m slightly worried! No I wasn’t given any antibiotics just paracetamol. Seems silly but I really want to wash my hair but I don’t want to until it’s stopped bleedinf lol

Becki it’s in the labia I def think there’s a stitch out but he said it’ll heal fine , it’s still bleeding and it’s the side where it’s really swollen but he said that’s normal too , try not to worry which I know is hard , if your concerned contact him though . I think I got antibiotics because of the tightening as can get infection xx

    Hi girls,
I had labiaplasty and hoodectomy last Friday (25/01/19) I’ve got a blood clot which seemed to form straight after surgery I think there hoping it will go down itself however it’s been a week now and I’m still in a lot of pain only on the side of the blood clot. I’ve sent in a photo to the clinic to see what they suggest. Those of you that have had the blood clot drained was it very painful ?
I’m due back at work on Monday and I’m really worried as I still can’t walk/ sit properly:(

    Hi all,
I just wanted to say that someone advised to take ibuprofen after surgery – DO NOT DO THIS! Ibuprofen is a blood thinner and could make you bleed more.
Paracetamol is okay I believe but I’d stick to what your surgeon gives you, or google whether any extra tablets (such as ibuprofen, neurofen etc) are blood thinners before you take them.
Hope that’s useful! I saw it and thought NOOOOOOOOO!

Hey! I just wondered if you ended up being happy post op, once the swelling had gone down? I’m now in the exact same boat and I feel it looks no different, I’d love to know if you ended up satisfied with the end result?

    Many thanks
