Hi girls I had my operation yesterday and I’m really not in any pain just a bit sore and stings every now and again but nothing bad probably about a 2/10 so I haven’t taken a single tablet yet. Obviously I’m expecting to be in more pain as the days go on. I was given co-codrymal and antibiotics. The antibiotics I start tomorrow to prevent an infection however I was just wondering if any of yous were able to manage just on paracetamol, if that? I really want to try and limit the tablets if I can. Please share your advice thanks xx
Hi Alicia! I had my operation on 05.01 since then I managed to take co-codrymal 2x 2 times per day. Its still really painful and my breast are very sore but I will try to avoid these tablets and I am planning for rest of the days to take plain paracetamol. They cause constipation that’s why if you can replace it with paracetamol is much better for you. But if you can’t just drink plenty of water that was the medical officer’s advice given to me.
I stayed in hospital the first night and took everything they offered me, but the next day I had two paracetamol before I went to bed and I never took anymore again, I never felt pain as such just ached and a few twinges every now and then, I’m due to have revision surgery today so I’m hoping it’s as pain free as last time x
Hiya Alicia,
Like you I haveb5 really experienced horrendous pain. I had my op on 02/01 the first day I had 2 paracetamol at night just to try get some sleep but after that I’ve not taken ant pain relief at all. I have the odd twinge but it’s nothing unbareable x
Hi girls thanks so much for your advice! Rali yes I’ve heard about other girls being constipated from that meditcation too so I’m definitely going to try and hold off from it! Yes see how you go with just paracetamol! .. Jamie good luck with your revision today I hope you aren’t in pain either like last time! Good luck !& hi Ruth ah that’s great only 2 paracetamols!! Think it’s best to stay off it all if you can! Xx
I’ve just realised my message made no sense ? I didn’t really have much pain and still don’t which I’m so thankful for. Good luck with your recovery xx
I’m just wondering if ibuprofen can be taken instead of paracetamol? X
I only took paracetamol and ibuprofen throughout my whole recovery for maybe 5 days I didn’t take anything else they gave me apart from my antibiotics and was fine 🙂 you probably have a larger pain threshold than others! I was expecting to be in a lot more pain than I was xx
I had quite a big surgery – 6 hours (uplift, implants, liposuction/ fat transfer from hips and thighs to boobs). I took paracetamol every 6 hours for a few days then as and when required. It’s amazing what the body can cope with.
I was prescribed paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine after my op. I didn’t have any pain but I took ibuprofen for a couple of days as a precautionary measure just in case I became uncomfortable, but then I read that it can make you very constipated so I stopped and switched to paracetamol instead, and took that until I was one week post op.
I just took the painkillers given maybe 2 times daily for about 3 days then I was fine, some days only would take just before bed to help me get settled.
My nurse told me to buy probiotic like yakult, you know those little yoghurt drinks, help with the immune system and constipation!
Hey girls! Here is a little update from my post op process. Day 3rd and I have stopped taking any painkillers as they cause me very bad constipation. I am having plenty of water hope that will help me. Still in pain but much better than last 2 days. I realised that the breast band caused me pain too and when I don’t wear it is much better but unfortunately I have to wear it at all times for 2 weeks surgeon’s advice.
I had to take loads of laxatives to ease the constipation, for me it was by far the worst part of the entire experience.
Antibiotics and codeine, took the antibiotics religiously obviously to prevent any infection but literally only needed an ibuprofen to take the edge off for the first 5 days so didn’t touch the codeine.
It’s good your pain/aching is low some of us are very lucky as seen posts from so many people who have been in quite a bit of pain/soreness. I always thought my pain tolerance was low and I was gonna be really feeling sorry for myself but was one of the lucky ones was up and about doing some light housework day 2 lol xx
