Im just going to apologise for this massive easy but I thought Iād wrote a post on how my op has gone today and so that people can read my experience as I have noticed that there isnāt much on here regarding breast reductions so Iām hoping that this could possibly help anyone who is considering it or has there op coming up soon…
So Iām currently at first trust hospital in Preston, my admission time was 10am but I arrived early at 9.30am & was dying for a wee so they took me to room straight away and let me do the pregnancy test so that was done and dusted. Iād seen the nurse by 9.40am, she said it was okay for me to have a glass of water, then the anaesthetist came to see me at 9.50ish… then my surgeon came to doodle all over me at roughly 10.20am.
All the staff have been so lovely and caring towards me, kept checking on me and making sure I was comfortable and calm. I got a knock on the door at 12.30ish to say that I was next on the list and then Iād be waiting another 45mins – 1hour and went down to theatre at 2pm.
All the theatre staff were so lovely and made sure I was comfy and made sure I knew I was in safe hands, the anaesthetist was so cute he said to me āyouāre such a pretty girl and youāve got lovely eyes.ā They were all making sure I was distracted and asking me loads of questions about what I do for a living etc, if I had any holidays booked etc etc.. I remember them putting the canula in my hand and saying that they were going to put me to sleep and think of my dream holiday to keep me distracted, then I had an oxygen mask on and before I knew it I was under like a flash!
I woke up at 6pm feeling a tad disoriented but in no pain, I was absolutely sweating my bag off, they bought me back to my room. As soon as I had a glass of water I through up, luckily with it just being liquid it was alright … I threw up 3 times in total even after a cuppa tea. After that I had a few snacks and sandwich etc and the sickness subsided.
Itās 11ish now and I am still feeling no pain, or had any more painkillers. I actually feel amazing, I think Iāve been lucky. No sore throat or grogginess… I can move my arms and I donāt feel remotely achy! Maybe I have a higher pain threshold than I though ?
I am so pleased with the results compared to how they looked before! ? they look amazing and I can finally see all my stomach hahaha! I canāt wait to see them properly next week at my 1 week PO appointment! I shall try to upload a photo if itāll let me know…
I can honestly say that today has been such a great rush even though Iāve remained incredibly calm… everything has ran so smoothly and Iām so happy how with the whole experience… my surgeon came to see me at 7.30 and said how happy he was with results and how well the surgery went … I was glad I saw him so I could personally thank him for changing my life for the better!
My partner very kindly stayed with me all day and left at 10pm, the staff made sure that we was well looked after too whilst I was in for the surgery. I honestly canāt believe that it is all done and dusted and this time tomorrow I will be back home… today has been the best day of my life and if anyone is considering going through with a breast reduction I will
say GO FOR IT! You wonāt regret it ..
Hope my experience can help anyone out there and if anyone has any questions feel free to ask ā¤ļø Becky xxx

How is your recovery going? I had mine done yesterday and Iām so happy! ?
@amymarie13
Hey, my recovery is going really well. Came off the painkillers on Saturday, had no real pain to be honest and Iām pretty much make mobile like before. Just got to remember to take it easy, get to see them properly tomorrow at my 1WPO appointment .. canāt wait!
Awww Iām so glad youāre happy with them, how did it go? X
It went well. Iām so happy with the outcome, just hope they still look as good when the selling goes down ? Iām glad youāre recovering well. Let me know how your one week appt goes. Mine is on Friday. They had to change my dressings this morn though so I had a little peak. Iām tender but not too bad. Xx
Aww I bet they will.. now my swelling is going down Iām still super happy with the results. Glad it all went well for you, Mr Mahdi is great at his work I must say. Yes I shall do, will drop you a message tomorrow and let you know how I go on, I get to see them properly with no dressings, bit nerve wrecking ? yeah I got a sneak peak of mine when they took my drains out ? xxx
This was really helpful as Iām going for my reduction on Monday ?? how are you recovering now? Iām so scared even though I think I have quite high pain threshold xxx
@claire17287 hi lovely… honestly Iām recovering amazingly. Not gonna lie my 2nd week has been tougher than the first, i.e post op blues, feeling down etc (but thatās mainly because of friends not making effort etc) and soreness from bruising coming out but Iām really pleased with everything. I went to my 1WPO appointment on Tuesday and the nurse was really happy with how everything is healing etc. I wish you the best of luck with your reduction on Monday & I promise youāll be fine! Youāll do better than you expect ? xxx
1WPO ?
Photo wonāt load ??
Awe thank you so much Iām excited I canāt wait. Iām hoping I do recover as well as you have your pics are great. I feel pretty chilled out but I know Iāll be terrible for worry when I get to the hospital ? xxxx
Aww thatās good that youāre excited! Aww cheers chick. Honestly donāt worry when you get there, youāll be in great hands, which hospital are you going?? Xxxx
Hey! Iām so happy youāve put this post up, there isnāt much about breast reductions on here ? Iām going for mine on the 28th February and honestly I am so excited and nervous! Iāve been waiting for so long and itās coming up so quickly! Seeing your pictures, makes me so much more excited! Glad youāre recovering well too! Xxx
@fsdavies123 hi lovely. Aww thank you thatās exactly why I posted my experience because I know before I had my op I hadnāt read much on here.. I did get chatting to a girl called Linsey tho so was messaging her on WhatsApp asking tons of questions ? .. honestly tho chick youāve got nothing to be nervous about, itāll be the best experience and decision youāll ever make! ? thank you, Iāve got other after photos but for some reason they wonāt let me upload them .. my boobs have changed so much in 2 weeks-ish. Yeah recovery Is going well.. much better than I expected! ? xxxx
Once Iāve had my op, Iāll do the same and put up before and after pictures so everyone can see! There isnāt much on here at all so Iād love to help in anyway I can! Iām honestly so excited! āŗļøXxx
Girls Iām going to keep a watch out on this post, Iāve been wanting a reduction since I was around 16 years old, and after having 2 lovely children and now 32 I want one even more (breasts are so saggy and cause me such back pain) Iām in the process of doing as much research as I can do this post has been great thanks
Ffion that sounds a great idea. Deffo take lots of before photos because thatās when youāll truly see the difference!
Hi Sam, definitely do as much research as you can but I canāt fault MYA And my Surgeon Mr Mahdi heās done a fantastic job, much better than I thought! I wonāt lie MYA are more expensive but there support and care is next to non.. youāll get looked after so well. I would recommend MYA to any of my friends / family. Even if you just book an initial consultation itās free & itāll give you a better understanding of everything ?
On another note I noticed on Saturday that it had started bleeding underneath my boob on the right hand side and it had got worse by Tuesday (yesterday), so went in for an emergency appointment & got my dressings changed and she said the bruising is so bad like black/purple colour that there has been a collection of blood that has managed to escape from a scab or something.. itās extremely swollen and sore, so fresh dressings on and back home. Woke up this morning and again itās bleed even more all over the dressing so got to back today for another emergency appointment make sure everything is okay. She said itās very common to have a build up of blood .. will let you know what she says after my appointment! ? xx
Drove up to Manchester to get my dressings changed and checked over by a surgeon, everything is fine but Iāve got really bad bruising so itās just more old blood trying to get out of my system. Nothing to worry about .. all is healing well! Got another appointment next Tuesday but one Friday morning if I need it xxxx
Iām so glad that itās nothing major and that itās common! The aftercare sounds 10/10. I honestly canāt wait now 25 days and counting ?xx
Ended up having to go too the local hospital this morning cause it had bled again from the Wednesday through the weekend and I noticed a slight smell yesterday afternoon but didnāt think anything of it, but it got incredibly worse over night (so much that it was making me feel sick) .. like a real putrid smell, so gathered it was all the old blood just sat under my dressing, got it changed by the local nurse and as soon as she removed the old dressings, the smell was vile and 10x worse, she wasnāt too happy about it but said it didnāt look infected, no yellow weeping or redness, no temperature etc .. said to was Myaās discretion whether to proscribe me any antibiotics.
I had previously called the emergency nurse but she was just a receptionist who couldnāt offer an advise but would get someone to contact me in office hours, so Dr called and said he thought it was urgent & that mya need to do some swabs and send it off to a lab to see whatās going on down there but explain everything the nurse had said and he was okay with it. So next appointment will be Tuesday unless MYA call me tomorrow for an earlier appointment.
Convinced myself that the Right side is never going to heal and worrying & stressing like hell. Donāt know why it smelt so bad but glad itās gone now ? also when I had the op my drain on the right hand side wasnāt put in correctly so Iām wondering if thatās why Iām having so many problems now with it .. xxx
On another note Iām super excited for you Ffion, itāll make the world of difference for you! Xxx
Been back to the nurse & all is healing well. Swelling and bruising is going down ? gone fresh dressings on and back next Monday to see the nurse take dressings off and to see my surgeon so he can check over everything! Feeling much happier and settled now the nurse has reassured me all is okay! Xxx
Hi Iām watching your posts eagerly , Iām looking for tips as my op is on 18thfeb , Iām anxious but canāt wait to not shop for huge cupped bras , Iām a34f the surgeon says, but I wear a 36Dd as I donāt like tight fit under breasts and 36DD fit nicely in cup and under breasts Iv bought Macom bras size 34 Iv been testing them but think I want 36 for comfort donāt get me wrong they are bearable but I like comfort and with swelling and such Iām worried ? any tips would be great , canāt wait to get this weight of my chest as they say ? truly
Hi Pamela, I was between a 34 and 36 back size so I ended up ordering one of each, a medium and large, I tend to wear the large 36 more than the medium one cause itās comfier and not as tight fitting, I can fit better into the medium now the swelling is going down. Iād deffo opt for the bigger size š x
So then ladies ! Iām over 4 weeks post op and Iām finally starting to feel okay in myself mentally, I have had an infection which got me feeling really down as it wouldnāt stop bleeding and leaking so finally getting my last dressings off tomorrow! I will take a photo tomorrow so everyone can see a real before and after photo. I must say my surgeon is a real miracle worker! Xxxx
Yes Becky!! Iām so happy for you!! ? Iām looking forward to seeing the results! Xxx
Hey! I have booked my first consultation but I was just wondering how long it roughly took from your first consultation to having the operation? x
Hi Liana, my first consultation was 30th August and I didnāt have my surgery till 15th January but that was only because I needed a few months to save the money up (I paid the op in full) I could of had my surgery in October, it simply takes as long as you want. You need to have a post op app with the nurse 4 weeks before surgery date so if they could fit you in to the see the surgeon for that consultation Iād say 6-8 weeks waiting maybe? Hope that helps xx
4 weeks post op there! What a difference ???? I look at the before photo and it makes me cringe, how did I ever live with them!! ?xx
Another before & after ?
They look amazing! What size are they now?
Have you just had 2 weeks off work?
Thanks Jennifer..
About D/DD now, not 100% sure on what size they are as I havenāt been measured.
With my work being a lot of heavy lifting and running round etc (catering industry) Iāve had 6 weeks off but Iām still having complications with healing so nurse has said have few more weeks off so wonāt be back till mid March so 9 weeks all together ?
If it worked in an easier setting like office work then Iād of gone back after 2 ? xx
9 weeks post op tomorrow! Super chuffed with the results ?
