    Hey girls,

Had my op today and all went really well. I originally booked 5 days holiday off work however the hospital have given me a sick note for 2 weeks.

The sick note just says I’ve had surgery and won’t be fit for work until 30th March. I don’t want to tell work that I’ve had a boob job, does anyone know if you have to tell them what surgery you’ve had? Or if I can just give HR the note and say I want it to be confidential?
Don’t really know how it works with cosmetic surgery. Can they not accept the sick note if it’s for cosmetic surgery?

I’d be grateful of any advice!! Xx

    Hi Cristina,

A lot of work places probably won’t allow time off for surgery if they know it’s cosmetic. My surgeon said he can do me a sick note and that they never have to know what surgery you’ve had.

However i felt guilty about this so i went and spoke to someone at my work and said i needed two weeks off for surgery however it’s cosmetic and would they allow me to have a week as sick and then a week holiday to compromise and they said yes.

I was told you don’t need a sick note for your first 7 days.
Is your job likely to be one where you’ll be working from home due to COVID-19? Then you won’t need to worry for a sick note! Xx

I took annual leave for mine, I wouldn’t have thot it should count as sick leave when its cosmetic but every workplace is different. If ur sick note doesn’t say what the surgery is then that’s good. I don’t think you have to disclose it to anyone you don’t want to.
