Hi girls! my surgery is so soon, and I’m going to Harley Health. How is it there? food etc? I’m staying overnight so not sure what to expect… also, how strict are they regarding plastic bags and things? not sure what to take and need to start planning! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks xx
I had my surgery the 12th of December 2020.
My admission time was 2:45pm, I had a normal overnight bag with; toiletries, shirt dress, leggings, nightdress, book, phone, headphones, dressing gown, slippers, underwear, compression bra.
I was given a disposable mask to wear and taken into the reception where I I filled out some forms and ticked off the food and drinks I wanted, they do things like soup and fancy sandwiches etc. It’s actually really nice but I struggled massively to eat after the procedure because my throat was so sore!
I was taken up to a room and had to change into their gown, compression socks and slippers and my clothes, coat and shoes were all bagged and tied and I had to take them home like that (if I’d have known I’d have taken extra shoes but luckily I had slippers to go home in)!
I saw a nurse, the anaesthetist and the surgeon over the next couple of hours, I had to sign lots of things, then went in for surgery at 6pm out by 7pm.
Nurse helped me into my compression bra and brought food and drink (I was sick after anaesthetic though probably because I stupidly chose orange juice)!
Then it was just a case of going to sleep 😂 they tried to get me to have a walk about but I was hanging! They also took me to the toilet whenever too.
I was then allowed to leave the next morning once I’d eaten, been given meds and got dressed, they also carry all your stuff to the car for you so want whoever is picking you up to be ready and waiting.
That’s pretty much it. In my experience they were all really lovely!
Best of luck!!
Hey Natalie! did you also request a later admission time? I have requested one due to travelling over an hour to the hospital so I would be landed with having to go in at 2:45pm. Sorry that you were rather sick afterward and yes orange juice may not have been the best idea considering the acidity but I get that it is a bit more exciting than water! with sandwiches, I assume that the kitchen was potentially closed? as they usually give a warm meal… anyway it’s fine. I will make sure to pack slippers and/or an extra pair of shoes then. What time did you have breakfast and leave the morning after? Fingers crossed I will be ok and can get out early!
Your reply helps so much, thank you!!!
Hey Becks,
No it was actually the one I was given and it suited me due to travel too!
I know I didn’t think at the time, the nurse said I’ll get you some tea instead 😂
I’m not sure with regards to the kitchen being closed, I picked a baguette because I’m quite a fussy eater so you may be able to get a hot meal!
They wake everyone up from 7am, and bring you breakfast quite soon after, they gave me the meds just before I left and I was allowed to go as soon as I was ready then, which was around 9am.
You’re welcome! Just to add also there’s no where you’re allowed to park (I can’t remember totally, but I think there’s either permits or loading only), so it literally is a case of being dropped off and picked up, but you can pull up right outside!
Thank you! I am doing very well, the surgeon told me last week to just treat them as normal boobs now 😂 I can get back to my normal routine!
Hopefully, the tea didn’t make you feel as bad! 😂 a baguette seems like a wise decision and tbh surgery does also make you lose your appetite doesn’t it. 7am is fine and nice that you don’t spend too long waiting around before leaving just hope you didn’t feel rushed!
Thanks for the parking tip that is super useful Natalie – hoping considering the current climate London is going to be a tad quieter with regards to traffic, parking, etc. My poor boyfriend won’t be able to complain as much then 😉
How amazing that you have basically had the all clear. Go and enjoy your boobs!!! Thanks for the help xx
No the tea was great actually! Settled my stomach I think!
Yeah it does, they did say that my throat may be very dry and sore from the tube down the throat 😂 you just have to drink loads to lube it up! They do leave you with a cup and a jug of water too.
I didn’t feel rushed either, they said to do everything in my own time, but I just wanted to get out of there and in my own bed! 🤣
No worries! Hopefully the parking will be easy, there wasn’t a lockdown when I had mine done, just a few restrictions so it was probably busier then!
Thank you! I will try, I feel great but keep worrying I’m going to do too much too soon and ruin them! I also need to get used to the fact that I don’t hate them anymore and don’t have to cover up all the time 😂
Hope yours goes amazingly well!!
That’s fab!! Yeah, of course, will be downing that water afterward 😂… nothing beats the feeling of your own bed! Going to take some time getting used to them but hope you love them so much and feel happier in yourself etc. Thanks for the good luck wishes – I’ll post on the forum in a few weeks no doubt so hopefully speak to you again!! Take care x
