Honestly I would book a hotel or stay at the hospital. I was a day case and I was first on the list when I arrived, there was a delay with the anesthessiest which meant I didn’t go to theatre until 12.30, I left around 5pm and had arranged to stay with family only a 20 minute drive away but I can’t tell you how much I wished my op had gone ahead earlier in the day due to pain, sickness and dizziness so I had extra time before leaving. I even contemplated paying to stay in the hospital, it took me half an hour just to walk from my room to the front door as I kept nearly passing out and vomiting. Luckily my partner was waiting outside to drive me but no chance could I have coped if he wasn’t and needed to go on a train! X
