    I work with elderly people (dementia) n use hoists, (ones that are mobile) what advice on how long i should refrain from going back to work. I am on day 8 post op.

    I guess it depends on how you are feeling, did you have unders or overs? If unders then in theory shouldn’t be doing any heavy lifting for six weeks light stuff after two weeks, but frankly the I ly person that will know is you. I guess you need to work out what sort of effort you need to put in to a lift and try to judge if you are Upto it, but if you are doing really physical stuff it could be a while for them to heal if unders.

    I was working in care before my op . . . luckily i got a new job which was alot easier physically and started 2 weeks after my op 🙂 i was planning to take 2 weeks off, but even at that point i wouldnt have wanted to go back to my old job, as i still felt tight on my chest and couldnt reach or stretch very far! My advice would be, if your job was anything like my job before then take as much time off as you can. Theres so much lifting and straining you dont want to cause any damage to yourself 🙂 xxx
