Having read the forum but never posted anything I thought now was the time as I had my BA yesterday with Mr Traynor in Preston.
I wasn’t worried and glad I hadn’t wasted the energy in being so…..no need at all!
Arrived at 09.30 and after some form filling was in my room which had its own bathroom, saw the anaethatist, Mr Traynor and another Dr too but left to watch TV or do what we wanted.
11.45, walked down with a really lovely guy, Chris, who chatted and explained exactly what would happen to me. Lay down on the trolley and had a cannular put in my hand, after having what they called ‘gin and tonic’ inserted which made me feel very drunk, I don’t even remember being wheeled in the next room for the anaesthetic and op!
Woke up with 2 nurses and was taken back to my room, slept on and off for a short while, didn’t feel sick at all, had a lovely cup of tea and toast. normal blood pressures done, Mr Traynor came back and after about 3 1/2 hours got dressed and came home. Journey was comfortable and moving about easy. Managed to have a comfortable evening, nice dinner and good sleep propped up on cushions, best of all, still no pain killers required!
Best buys so far…v pillow, M and S zip up sports bra < looked too small but with 2 of us, got it on and the support is fantastic…sure that's why so little pain!) and cheap zip up fleeces from Tesco £8.00 each) to wear post up.
Hope this helps reassure some people, so surprised at how little pain there is….and how good my new boobs look!
