I know it’s an awful habit and I don’t smoke a lot maybe just 2 day more so when I’m around smokers and I’m really trying to stop before op, which is in just over 4 weeks time. Do you think this will affects op, and are any other girls in this same situation?
Me!! I had my op on Tuesday 26th feb! I cut down to a few a day, then I had none on the day of my op, but had a few since! I was honest with the doctors about my smoking, I have had GA before and never been told to stop for that reason, but it would b better to help with the scars after they said?? Xx
Thanks. That’s made me feel a bit better, I won’t smoke a few days before but I know I’ll not be able to stop all together, I enjoy it too much! I’ll just be honest and tell them I just smoke a few a day an hopefully they’ll be no problems. Can I add you you? X
I smoke, and i will be honest with u, it will slow down the healing process after…i tried to make up for it by eating really healthy foods which are high in protein, eggs fish chicken and lots of leafy greens, i have been to see my nurse today and after 5 wks have only just been allowed to get a shower, i am quiet a big smoker and i have prob 10 a day. I know is tough but you should really try and cut right down after surgery hun, it will help.Good luck x
5 weeks and Only just allowed to get them wet? God that’s a long time! Ha I had to have a op before for medical reasons and I could shower after a few days an had stitches, how come boobs are different? Did they say why?? Hope ur all healed now! Xx
Hi hun, I will be honest with u, but I still think it is better to stop at least for a week b4 and after, but I couldn’t. I normally smoke around 10-15 a day. I tried to stop b4 my op, but without luck. I even had one at the morning of the surgery and started again after 2days post op. As with a healing, I’m 8 days post op and my nurse was surprised how well I healed already, so I think everyone is different xxxx Good luck with your quitting and op
Tell me about it, 5 wks of shallow baths has been a killer !!
But we are all different and will heal at different speeds. I also took ages to heal after having a C section so maybe my body just heals slow. X
I read and heard from some surgeons that with scarring you can sort of predict by small cuts and stuff you’ve had in past if your scar fade away than it pretty much be the same with incision, I’ve had surgery in past and the long incision is nothing but a thin smooth line can’t even tell 🙂 and oh Ye with smoking well I smoke (guilty lol) I’ve cut down from superking size Fags to regular size and I smoke two those a day equivalent to 1 superking size fag. I replace with energy drink and food lol. My last day today smoking only until o recover from surgery and then il smoke again or probably never again I’m not addicted xx
