Hi girlies, Im having Dr Schiavone and I know he uses drains.. but i have absolutely NO IDEA what this means! What are they for? Where are the drains inserted into and when are they inserted and when are they taken out?!
Very confused about all this drains business.
Thanks 🙂
Hi when i went to see the sergeon he told me about this he told me he didnt use drains but i asked what there for anyway, i think it gets rid of all the fluid that builds up and reduces swelling. He said to me that there inserted just at the side of the breast next to the scar and the drain is wrapped around the implant. Someone on here who has had them will probably know better and explain better than me. Ive read on here a few girls who have had them said it doesnt hurt when theyre removed, so i wouldnt worry about it xx
Thanks Jasmine. Im confused though, if they are taken out after surgery, wont more stitches have to be inserted where the drain was? Otherwise there will be a little hole where the drain was inserted? Or am I being stupid? Haha xxx
No your right the sergeon said there with be a tiny hole that doesnt need stiches it will heal on its own. Sounds scary i know but i wouldnt worry about it to much, i dont get why some sergeons use them and why some dont like the sergeon im going to go with he doesnt use them? xx
Oh really?! I dont wanna be bleeding everywhere when its taken out! Haha. No I dont understand either to be honest, if its a good method for reducing swelling etc then why doesnt everyone do this? I suppose every surgeon has there own way of doing things and preferences!xxx
I.had mr kazazzi and i had drains i think its so all the fluid comes out so its not.inside you and so they can see when you have stopped bleeding…..they just feel very very strange when they are taken out xx
Hi Nina, I had drains, they are used to reduce the fluid build up everything jasmine said is right :). They are removed about 6 hours after your op, the nurse will remove them and no stitch is needed, it didn’t hurt me at all xx
Thankyou both. Least it didnt hurt thats a bonus! Did you not bleed lots from the little hole left where its taken out? Or do they put a plaster on it or something?xx
Yes i agree. When is your op? Im going on wednesday to book mine, i think once ive booked it and put the deposit down thats when it will be come real and ill be crapping my self lol xx
Booked in for the 14th of May. Seems like ages away but only 64 days. It cant come quick enough!!! When you booking yours for?xx

One of mine didnt bleed but one bled as when i went to the toilet in the middle of the night that drain fell out!! they put plasters on when they have been taken out..don’t worry about it yiu will be fine xx
Oh no! Lets hope this doesnt happen to me! Knowing my luck it will haha. But thats great news thankyou so much! 🙂 xxx
Its really common hun..just before it happened to me the nurse was telling me that it had just happened to someone else. we both went to the toilet and went light headed at the same time…..weird but honestly please don’t be scared or worried!! you will be absolutely fine xx
