Has anyone had a cold just before their op? Going to see dr schiavone to decide sizes today and then my op is on Tuesday! I’m hoping he will still operate, as I know sometimes the anaesthetist aren’t always keen when the person has a cold! I really don’t want to change my date! Trying to get rid of it ASAP! Anybody experrienced this before their op? Xxx

    Hi Shelley,
I had the worst flu and sickness the week before my op. I had to have my consultation in that week with my surgeon, still feeling really rough! I was feeling much better by my op date but I still had a chesty cough. I told the nurse and the anaesthetist and they didn’t seem too alarmed by it. Just let them know. I think you’ll be fine xx

The fastest way to get rid of it is to not take any decongestants or cold medications. Your body needs to cough and sneeze everything up, so don’t take anything that will stop it, otherwise you will take longer to get better! Also lots of vitamin c!!

Ok thank you for all your advice! I’m going to see the surgeon and nurse today, so hoping he won’t mention anything and all will go ahead 🙂 xxx

Don’t take anything at all with aspirin in such as lemsip etc as it could result in your op being cancelled as aspirin thins your blood and takes a few days to leave your system. I only know this as a girl on here took lemsip just before her op not realising it contained aspirin and her op was postponed. Get well soon hun x

Hi, I started with a cold last week. Immediately text my PC who says its fine so long as I don’t have a temperature. I have taken echinaccia up til 7 days pre-op to fight the cold, then stopped that and started on vit C…..seems to have done thew trick. Vit C all the way for me now, til op day on MOnday. x
