I had my op at doncaster 2 weeks ago today, as a daycase – my admission time was 10am i was taken down to theatre at 12pm and my op took 1 hour 15 minutes! I was up in my room by 1.40 but didnt wake up till 4.30pm, i was so sleepy and so out of it i didnt properly come round till much later in the day then the surgeon came to check me before he went home but i was in too much pain to sit up couldnt stop been sick and couldnt wee because i felt numb still! So i had to stay overnight – im glad i did cos i was in no fit state to go home, everybody is different, depends how well u react to the anaesthetic i suppose! It’s usually around 8pm when they discharge u xx

I’ve heard of a few people that ended up staying in even though they were originally meant to be day case, do they then charge you for overnight stay? x

No i didnt get charged, its hardly the patients fault if they arent well enough to be discharged and also the hospital cant discharge you till u have eaten, stopped been sick and been able to pass urine! I didnt do the last 2 till 10pm at night and didnt eat till the next morning x
