hi girls! do any of you know how soon before you have your op you should stop taking your pill? is it 1 week or 3 weeks? because i know you have to stop taking it for a full month, but im unsure whether you stop taking it 1 week before the op, then start taking it again 3 weeks after, or whether youre supposed to stop taking it 3 weeks before then start taking it again 1 week after! i know ive just probably made that sounds so much more complicated than it is! haha. but help today would be much appreciated! thanks xxx

its not necessary i dont think, but its adviced. also, the pill is a lot less effective for 2 weeks after the op due to the medication. i think im gonna stop taking mine 2 weeks before & start taking it again 2 weeks after! xxx

i was told to stop taking it 4weeks before my op, mines 14th oct and my last pill packet finishes this sunday soim gona stop taking mine after this packet. x

im having mine on the 16th of october, and ive just worked out my packet will finish on the 1st so that gives me a 3 weeks break before my op xxx

I was advised to come off it for at least a month around my op, as it increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis apparently. that’s what my pcc said, but i’m not sure what the risks are already, or how it increases them. sorry I can’t be more help! x

Also just to add, the pill won’t work because you have to take anti-biotics after the op, which stops the pill from working, so there is no point in taking the pill whilst you’re on anti-biotics! )

i opnly take mine to help with my periods cos they are so bad and painful I’ll see what the nurse says when i go next week…12th for my pre-op…my partenr has had a vasectomy so no worries there….at the mo anyway lol thats our next big plan…reversal!!! hahaha x x x
