Make sure you follow the no food, liquids rule before but take something for after. I was munching on grapes, flakes and pink lucozade after, as well as all the food they gave me ha ha, no wonder I looked pregnant for days 🙂 If you are sick, don’t worry, the nurse will give you something for it. They are really understanding xxx

I think you can, but i was okay. My admission was 2pm and surgery at 4pm so was just a little nauseous because I hadn’t been able to eat anything all day. I made sure to eat after even though I didn’t initially feel like it. I woke up with a pain in my drain area and when I told the nurse I was in pain (well mumbled incoherently – still no idea how she understood me ha ha) she quipped yes love, you’ve just had surgery 🙂 then she gave me some pain relief and it was perfect. I didn’t have any pain at all after that xx

    Menu

I was scared about waking up on my own too! Yeah youre just back in the same bed and room:) you dont even realise its been done! I was soo scared about being put to sleep but as soon you have the injection and get scared youre asleep:) it litterally feels like youve had a 2 minute nap! I was fine then when i went to stand up i was sick but that was just because i was dehydrated, they put me on a drip and gave me anti sickness fluid through the canular thing in my hand:) i hate being sick too but it was only as i went to stand up, i think i did it too quickly:) just ask the nurses to help you, and they’ll give you the anti sickness medicine before you get up! theyre lovely:) xx

thats good then as long as i get to wake up not on my own with my mum there! i no im dreading it ive never had anything like this in my life! i thought you were already on a drip before you came round? were you just sick the once, did the anti sickness stop it or ? i hope they will give it me! i want it before i can even be sick!xx

and thanks Romy, hope i have the same experience as you! xx

I woke up in the recovery room with a lovely mummy like nurse (I was on my own til my friend finished work) who once I was awake got me wheeled back. I woke up with drains which I am glad of as have had little swelling during recovery so they worked fab, and I also woke up on a drip already – which because of the amount of fluid they give you made me go to the bathroom about 6 times in an hour. Had to keep buzzing the nurse to help with the drip wheelie thing ha ha. When I got to the hospital there was a little delay and the nurse said if i felt thirsty they would be able to put me on a drip so I didn’t get dehydrated but I went for surgery shortly after. I think they give you pain relief in your drip for waking and before I was discharged I was given my packets of antibiotics and painkillers but I never took the pain killers, just the odd ibrofen x

    Menu

Me too, id never had an operation before! Yeah i ended up having 3 drips, and i wasnt sick after that:) they give you pain killers while youre under so you wake up hardly in any pain, then they give you some toast and they give you pain killers:) im rubbish at taking tablets though so i was dreading that part!xx

thats good then! yeah i have heard you go to the bathroom alot after it! i hope i dont have a delay i think waiting around will make me more nervous i just wanna get there get it done and go home:( ah right yeah i think thast what i will do i deffo wont be takin the painkillers as ive heard there really strong and dont agree with alot of people! were you ok on the antibiotics?xx

3 drips?! that just for sickness?? oh god im panicking now!! haha. yeah i hate taking tablets aswell, really dont like it.do you have to take the painkillers? it sounds like everywhere and everyone is different! thats what i hate haha wish everyone was the same!xx

The antibiotics were fine, no side effects at all. I was given Eurythmericin as have a severe allergy to penicillin. The drips are just fluids for dehydration I think. Maybe some antibiotics too. The sickness and pain relief are normally tablet, jab form. I got jabbed in the buttcheek for my troubles ha ha. Its so true that everyone is different, but I am positive by tomorrow evening you will be absolutely buzzing 🙂

Yeah again there are so many different antibiotics! thats another thing im scared of that im allergic to penicillin! i wouldnt no if i was!! ah right i thought so. yeah i heard the sickness being jabbed in the leg which i did not like the sound of but i would rather that! ouch that sounds so painful did it hurt!? i hope so i realyl do 🙁 sorry for all the questions btw! ha x

    Menu

Im not sure, i think its cause i was dehydrated! And i was the oposite i didnt go to the toilet for ages after! Yeahh everyone ive spoken to have been different from me! The tablets arent that big but i just smapped them into small ones:) xx

what time did you go in? i no its so annoying so its hard to say how i will be 🙁 thats good then, wish i didnt have to take them full stop though! xx

    Menu

My admission time was half 9 and i went down about 12:) you have loads of doctors coming to see you though so the time flies:) you get asked the same questions like a million times about what your allergic to! Wheres the hospital your going to? The only thing i kept thinking about is at least im paying to have this done, theres someone else my age somewhere about to have a tumour removed or something like that which im sure is a hell of a lot more scarier!xx

No worries, I was the same. with the questions 🙂 I was still groggy from the op so don’t remember any pain with the jab, just remember it happening as I found it funny, like I was being jabbed in the ass for complaining ha ha – silly sleepy drugged up brain 🙂 You would know quickly if you were allergic to something as would make you feel poorly, some people get a rash with antibiotics. My particular allergy is not a common one and I’ve known since I was a kid, so try not to worry about that too. They give you your first dose during surgery and then you continue with them the next day normally. You will be fine, you are under constant supervision by some amazing staff who won’t let you go til they are sure you are okay xxx

Yeah thats not to bad then, im not allergic to anything as far as i no! is it first trust in Preston? i think thats the name of it. I no yeah that is very true! its our choice at the end of the day and could be going for something worse!! thanks 🙂 xx

ok thanks 🙂 ahah thats funny, atleast you can laugh about it now! wish it didnt have to be so complicated! ok ill try my best cant promise i wont though, im the biggest worryer going! ohhh so the dose during surgery of the antibiotics are the ones you start taking at home? i no i hope there the same at where i will be, but i also hope i dont get kept in! id hate that xx

Good luck for tomorrow Emma….It will all be over before u know it + u will have yr new boobies. I think u can ask for anti-sickness drugs before u go down or they can give u an injection while u r asleep (my mum had this with a previous op she had). I really don’t want to wake up feeling sick either x x
