My best friend Was booked for BA today on my recommendation. She drove from Swansea to London and ten minutes b4 her admission time she got a phone call to say the surgeon was sick and they have to cancel the op. I understand this cannot b helped however my friend has spent a fortune on travel and accommodation plus arranged a baby sitter for her son. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Did Mya reimburse u? X

You would have thought that another surgeon would have been able to step in for when things like that happen, especially when travel and accommodation etc is involved 🙁 xx

    Hi Girls,
Due to unforeseen circumstances one of our surgeons was unable to operate today as she was taken ill.
Unfortunately we are unable to discuss the individual aspects of any patients case.
However we have done our up-most to ensure that all patients affected have been contacted and been appropriately informed about their individual cases.
If anyone has any queries or questions about today’s cancelled operations then please contact patientmanagementdepartment@mya.co.uk

i too was at highgate this morning awaiting BA with dr grob. I was gowned and waiting when I was told the surgeon was sick. I am still reeling that it took her until 10am to let us know. the effort that went into sorting out child care and support for myself was immense, not to mention the whole mental preparation for the op and I felt very let down by such an unprofessional attitude.

However, I must praise MYA for their handling of a terrible situation. Have been rescheduled to see another surgeon and operation booked for Sunday. this means I only have a few days to psyche myself up again for the op.

surely it can’t happen twice??? Hopefully I will be posting next week about a successful operation.

OMG that’s awful, I can only imagine the disappointment and inconvenience. I know the effort I put in to finding childcare, accommodation, partner time off work and other plans put in place for few days after the op not to mention getting mentally prepared and stuff. And at such short notice, seems MYA cancel lots of operations I hope they make it up to you! Good luck girls…x
