hi girls
just wondering how long the first consultation lasts and what they do there
thanks xx
Hi Laura,
At your first consulation you are booked in with a patient co-ordinator. I went to the MYA office in London. When I arrived I was given various forms from a lady on the front desk which just asked for the basics ,address, dob , previous medical history etc, what you are wanting to acheive with surgery etc. Once this was signed and completed it was passed to the PC (patient coordinator) and then I was shown to another room. How long the 1st consultation lasts really depends on you. The PC discusses what you want etc, explains the proceedure (shows pictures etc),prices, information about the company etc. If you decide it is what you want then you are then booked in on another day with a surgeon to discuss the proceedure in more depth. It is ultimately the surgeons decision whether he/she feels a particular surgery is suitable for you or not. All I can say is my 2nd BA was with MYA so I knew what to expect at the consulatation. I have a baby boy and having to travel to London to see a PC then having to re book and travel again to see a surgeon was really not cost effective. The petrol from Middlesex, parking, and having my baby with me would have been too much to have to do twice. If you are really wanting the surgery then it may be worth asking your PC if you can book to see her/him then with the surgeon after. I just find that if you live a long way away it helps keeping costs down. However I understand that many people prefer to see their PC and go home and think about it for a while before booking an appointment with the surgeon its personal choice really. Just thought I’d let you know it is possible to book to see a PC and a surgeon in the same day. I ended up seeing 2 surgeons on different occasions so the travel costs still mounted up for me.
If you decide to see a surgeon …at this appointment he/she will discuss with you the surgery you are wanting. He /she will look at your medical history etc (from the forms completed before seeing PC). If you are wanting a BA for example then he /she would examine your breasts, may take measurements, discuss suitable sizes etc. It is also a chance for you to ask more in depth questions about the surgery . Always write them down before the appointment as when you are in front of the surgeon you forget I did anyway. If there is anything worrying you about the surgery then this is a good time to ask as you are in front of a surgeon….dont be afraid to ask the most silly questions at the end of the day you have to feel 100% happy and confident.
Hope this helps

Hi Laura,
I totally agree my first BA I saved for 2/3 years ( I was determined!!)…I had 32a’s and was sooo self conscious. I was fed up of wonder bras and stuffing chicken fillets in my bras!! It was a big step and a bit scary but beleive me when you wake up and look down at your new boobies its such a great feeling!!! For me my 1st new boobies opened up a whole new world of bra buying, strappy bikini buying, boob tubes, strappy dresses all of which I never dared to wear with my fried eggs!!! I’m 34 years of age now and if I look back having my 1st BA was one of the best things I’ve done. It just made me feel so much more confident as a person and gave me a real boost in life…sounds daft but a pair of boobs really changed my life. Here i am 10 years later with bigger implants (2nd BA)…never ending !!hehe
