Hi everyone x
I recently had my consultation with Dr G 2 weeks ago and found him really great! I have been doing my research and read lots of reviews about peoples experiences of having Rhino, However i am feeling unsure and need some advice and inspiration from any of you that have had Rhino with Dr G. It will be open Rhino and he said he will need to take cartillidge from the bump he shaves down to build some of the tip..? did anyone else have this? Im 24 and have hated my nose since i can remember. Im just scared i wil look like Michael Jackson or something, even though thats silly as DR G looks like an amazing surgeon.
Would any of you who have had Dr G let me see any before and after piccies? I am really keen to book for October but just need some reassurance i am making the right decision. Also how long did u all take off work? do u feel really weak after? or is it just uncomfortable?
thanks everyone xxx lucy xxxx
Hiya I had open rhino basically everything done to it! il be 2 years post op in November! add me you can take a look at my pics! I was meant to have 2 weeks off but ended up having a month but that was only because I had problems with my heart and I felt really weak! but post people go back 2-3weeks depending on bruising xx
Hiya hun,
I had open rhino with Dr Gonschoir 17 months ago! Really happy with the result people cannot even tell in the slightest ive had a nose job and are always shocked when i tell them!! You will not come out looking unnatural at all!! Id wanted it done for as long as i could remember!! and although it takes a very long time to get rid of all the swelling i am soo happy i got it done! I had two weeks off work and was fine to go back after that, honestly had no pain after! its just bruising and swelling but it dosent hurt… and it takes a few days to get over the GA but you mostly just feel tired and uncomfortable as you wont be able to breathe through your nose for a while!
You can add me I have some before and after pics although i think the last pic is at 11 months post op…
xxxx
Ah thanks girls, appreciate your replies. I will add you both and look at your pics! So has your swelling gone down now Layla? or is it still going down? i know Dr G said it takes up to 18 months or so… I have never had a GA either so im slightly anxious about that – what was it like? do u remeber anything or do u just doze off? I read that the side effects of the op will be a sore throat – can you still eat and drink when u come round from the op? or is that uncomfy too? People keep trying to put me off and told me they put massive plugs up your nose to the top and its really painful when they pull them out? is that true? lol! xxx
Hi Lucy,
I had a really sore throat for a few days post op – I think it was a combination of having a tube down your throat and also only being able to breathe through your nose. I was waking up constantly the first few days with a really dry mouth but you get over it and it does ease off.
I don’t remember much about the GA to be honest – I’ve had a few in the past and it all happens really quickly – before you know it you’re back in recovery being brought around. I was groggy for a few hours immediately after coming round but then I noticed my sore throat and constantly wanted a drink and you have to have something to eat before you are discharged. Having the plugs removed is a weird sensation but not painful…more just a release of pressure.
I was off work for two weeks and I was so ready to go back after that time…I was really lucky with my bruising as I took arnica from the day after my op so most of my bruising went after a week. My cast didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would so I had no qualms about going the cinema or for a food shop or anything like that. I just learnt to embrace it – a few people stare but you’re never going to see them again and for all they know, you could have had an accident or something!
Keep us updated xxx
Hi girls, i have added you all! thanksxx
Thanks for showing me ur pics Layla, ur nose looks amazing 🙂 x
Thankyou hun!!! 🙂 it has changed a bit from then aswel…
I think most of my swelling has gone but certain things affect the swelling and some days is better than others! It’s minimal though and I think only I notice, plus I’ve had really bad hayfever which I don’t think helps!
GA is nothing to worry about at all! You don’t know a thing and it literally feels like a minute later and you wake up in recovery!
Yeh you do have quite a bad sore throat for a while but just make sure you have some throat sweets to help with that, I was fine eating and drinking after the op!
Haha people said that to me too and I was petrified!!! But when it came to it was like nothing and is over in a second.. It dosent hurt it’s just a weird feeling but it’s over so quick you don’t even have time to think ha!
xx
Thanks for ur responses girls 🙂

I am considering having my nose done and the nurse at MYA recommended Dr Gonshoir.. I was just wondering what is the price of rhinooplasty with him? x
Hi Jessica, I was quoted £6050 for open rhino with a graft for the tip of my nose – but was quoted 5450 when i went in Oct 2012 for standard open rhino. It all depends what u want done. I have managed to get some discount on the 6050 as i thought that was a bit too pricey.. hope that helps, Lucy x
WOW that expensive.. i thought it would be less 🙁 looks like ill have to wait a little longer and save! x
Hi Lucy,
I took the 30s Arnica tablets from Boots – I swear they made such a difference! Once you get a date booked then you’ll really start to get excited. I had a few doubts about a month beforehand and then they vanished as soon as I’d seen photos on here – I haven’t regretted my decision once.
I had my splint taken off after 12 days, Dr G is quite strict that you can’t have it off any earlier than 12 days but I needed to get back to work. I didn’t find it as awful as I thought it would be – I went out and about a few times in it and just ignored the funny looks!
How much discount did you get if you don’t mind me asking? I tried and tried and tried and was told they just don’t do it! X
Hi lucy. Yes I really liked dr g 🙂 I cant book until june next year. I get bonuses from work at xmas and easter so I will be able to pay it in full in june. Long wait though…but at least I wont have loans or credit cards. Wish I had the money sooner!!! Let me know when you book yours. Keep intouch oxoxox
Hi Girls,
Ive booked in for Rhino with Dr G for the 23rd sept, really excited but anxious at the same time…I’ve never had surgery before. Jess my surgery is Closed rhino as they are taking the bump of the side of my nose and that costs £4250.
Does anyone know the process of what they do when you get there on the day? 🙂 xx
