Well, I don’t like to gloat but I had to share this – thanks to a couple of months of super hard saving, my hubby and I have managed to save our first £1000 towards my BA! 😀 And that’s not including the money in my savings tin (I got a keep calm and carry on saving one, but covered the word saving with BOOBS! It’s just my weird sense of humour!) although that’s just the odd fiver and coppers! 🙂

So proud right now, a long way to go yet, but seriously hoping it’ll happen for me next year! Just praying that there are no unexpected bills – our car needed work done a few months ago, setting us back £300, but hopefully it won’t happen again!

Hi Siobhan! That’s great! I’m hoping to have £2000 by then too. I need to wait and see though. It feels so good to have hit such a big number! 🙂 Congratulations! When are you hoping to get your BA?

Cool. I know how you feel, saving with kids is so hard! I’m having to deny them stuff and stick to what they really need instead of buying them things for the sake of it. I felt so bad when I last saved that I spent £20 to get some arty things so we could at least create some things together. I’m cutting back on loads of stuff to save though, and my hubby is doing overtime which is helping loads. He wants me to get it done ASAP so we can get back to having fun- he really wants to get a vintage car, he keeps looking at them with lustful eyes and I keep saying, “Boobs first, then you can save for a car!” The kids are getting a joint gift this christmas and a few smaller gifts, we’re not even buying each other anything so we can save a few hundred more for the op! It makes sense to save so hard, I’ve wanted this for so long now!

Aww my youngest turned 3 in July! We went a bit nuts too… Eek! Hopefully by June next year. My mum is giving me some cash for my birthday too, I’ve asked all my family for money instead of gifts. Every little helps! My little boy (he’s 7) keeps offering to do his chores for free so I don’t have to give him his pocket money, which is soooo sweet of him, but I said every little boy needs to save for things too and it’s not fair of mum to keep his money that he works for! I’m trying to teach him about how important it is to save! He loves lego, so I’m trying to encourage him to save for a big model he can make so he can be proud of saving for such a big thing! Plus if he reaches his goal soon after I’ve reached mine we’ll have something to work on together whilst I’m recovering and not able to go running with him – we go for runs after dinner together!

Haha Siobhan – that’s sweet! I wish winning the lottery was less difficult! I’ve worked out that if I save all my money until May I should be able to afford surgery, but that’s ALL my money, which means no buying people birthday gifts (other than my son and husband), no nights out in that time, and no buying makeup! SHOCK HORROR! But I’ll be happy if we reach three and a half grand by then really. I don’t know what size to go for, it really depends what can be achieved and still give me a natural result. I don’t want my boobs disrupting the view of my toes at all. LOL

I’m quite small chested now, so I’ll maybe go for a C or D, but I don’t want to go bigger than that really. And I need to ask what shape will be best for me, I have been told anatomicals, but MYA prefer to use rounds where possible because there’s a slight risk of the anatomicals turning… I’ve no idea! LOL

LOL! Yeah, my apppointment with Mr Mounir isn’t until December. I didn’t want to rush seeing him because I knew it’d make me want them faster than I could afford. Have you seen your surgeon yet?

December isn’t too long.. Yh I’ve seen 2 surgeons they both said the same size range but schiavone (think that’s how its spelt) said overs and kazzazi said unders! 2 of my friends have had kazzazi so I was more swayed to him from the start tbh.. Just wanted 2 diff views.. But I’ll have to see kazzazi again nearer the time xx

Im in the process of saving, it seems to be taking so long. We always seem to have some debt or bill that needs paying and it keeps setting me back. Ive not even reached the 500 mark. I need some money making ideas. We both work full time but its never enough boo 🙁 xx

That sucks Heidi. I have been avoiding buying junk foods like crisps and snacks, and instead buying wholemeal pastas and brown rice to keep me full longer, and eating more fresh foods – which sounds mad but it’s saved me so much money whilst keeping me healthy and I find I’m buying less fast foods and whatever. Also, looking for vouchers and codes online when I need to buy something keeps costs down. If you can save by buying cheaper brands of food or going to a budget supermarket that’s a good idea too.
I got a large saving tin on ebay for a few pound, and it will hold up to £500 in coins, you can’t open it until you’re ready to remove the money – it has to be opened with a can opener. I always put my change in there, which means although you’re only saving a little, you’re saving the stuff you wouldn’t use in your purse and it stops you needlessly buying a chocolate bar on the way home etc. If you can walk or cycle to work it’ll save you travel money. I don’t go on nights out much, but if I am I look for places with deals on where stuff will be cheaper, or I’ll have a night in instead – it’s way cheaper! I think saving money where you can really helps – I buy 4kg bags of rice, which saves a lot – smaller bags cost almost as much and you maybe only get 1kg. And I’ve vowed not to buy myself anything until I’ve saved – other than skincare stuff and concealer. Overtime is a good option if that’s available to you – it’s tiring, but my husband is working about 20 hours more a week right now and we’re making good money with him doing that.
And try keeping a written record of the money you’ve saved – I’m finding seeing the money in black and white on a page is helping to motivate me more – even if I only save £5 one week, I tell myself that I have to save more the next. And remember that even small savings add up.
Also, if your family know you’re saving for this, they can help too. I’ve got my mum giving me the money that she’d have spent on a gift for me, which might only be £20, it might be more, but anything helps. That’ll be going in my tin too!
If you can open a savings account, the interest will boost your savings too once you’ve got more cash in the account you might get £5 interest a month or more. And when the money is in a specific account you’ll feel more obligated to keep it there! 🙂
It is hard, especially when you have unexpected bills, a budget might help. We work out our earnings per week, every 4 weeks and annually – it sounds daft, but it means there’s always a ‘float’ ready for any surprises from our energy supplier!
    I literally hate money.
    I hope this doesn’t sound like a lecture – it’s just what’s working for me! <3 xx

I really should do blog posts and videos on this stuff… LOL.
And when I say my mum is giving me money instead of a gift – I am talking about my birthday and christmas. It seems impersonal to get money, but it really will help me out! And it doesn’t offend people asking them to do it. As long as you make clear you’re not expecting them to give you half the money for surgery! 🙂
