Hi jade, I think it depends what job you do. You will definitely need at least a week. If you have quite a physical job you may need longer as you can’t lift for 2 weeks. I’m an assessor and had a week off but heading back out, I Felt my laptop bag was pulling on my chest and generally being up and about was quite tiring. So it really depends how you are feeling after your op and what type of job you do. Certainly after two weeks I was back to normal . Sorry that’s not much help, it really is an individual thing I’m afraid. Good luck x

Yeah I do have quite a physical job I’m a carer so need to be driving in a week time aswell but I was gonna say to work I can’t do manual handling or anything to physical and I’m hoping i can just handle medication for people rather then do the personal care ect x

You can as long as you avoid heavy lifting, no physical action til 6 week’s aswell 😉 well that’s what I was advised x

Hi jade I went back to work after 6 days and at that point driving to and from work waste worst part of my day. I couldn’t get into 5th gear and getting my car In reverse was uncomfortable. Suppose you just have to take it easy xx

Hey girls I’m a carer too and woundering how long to take !! The worst thing is that I’ve gotta give work 4 weeks notice to get paid holiday and I’m worried about getting a late space before the holidays booked 🙁 plus its so difficult not to be physical in this job because 99% of my patients require personal care hoisting etc .xxx

I’m in same boat as you Hun although I’m quite lucky because most of patients don’t require to much heavy lifting but still have to assist a few into nightclothes ect and give medication I’m booked of from the 17th dec op date 🙂 until the 26th so just over a week off and wire a few clue ya cancel round the Christmas period so hoping it goes in my favour maybe you could try the same thing get the time
