    Hey ladies

Had my closed rhino on Monday evening and just wondered how long the dripping lasts from your nose? I’ve taken my drip pad off but still have thick clear mucus which comes out every 5 mins or so..

Just pondered how long it takes for this to stop and ability to start breathing through the nose again? What were your experiences?

Am going to have my first bath tonight 🙂

    Thnx

I had my drip pad on for a week I couldn’t live without it! When I took it off it dried up though finally!
I couldn’t breath properly until I was a month post op I think but I had open rhino so don’t know if it will be sooner for you x

Thanks Zoe! I’ve had to stifle several potential sneezes which has been scary. Did you consciously try and breathe through your nose or did you wait until they were clear and then automatically started breathing nasally again? How long I’d you sleep upright? Sorry or all the qs – just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.. 🙂 x

I think breathing was more of a gradual thing, as the swelling got better my airways opened up slowly but there were times where I wasn’t getting enough air by breathing through my nose so I just waited until they were clear and then it came naturally to me again!
I slept upright for a few weeks but I think that was mainly because I loved my v pillow it was so comfy so it didn’t really bother me 🙂
It’s best to sleep upright for a while though it will help with the swelling and so you don’t roll over in your sleep and bang it! It’s worth it cos you definitely don’t want that to happen! X

My drip pad is constantly full of mucus,I’m constantly changing it but it’s making my nose feel quite sore! Can’t wait for it all to dry up! It’s disgusting!! X

Hey Hun all normal! I’m six weeks post op with closed and I had my drip pad on a couple of days longer than told too, sometimes my nose still leaks now! Nothing major but the odd clear mucas (sorry so gross) xx

Thanks ladies. I read somewhere that the clear fluid is water from the swelling so its a good sign when it comes out as it means the swelling is going down… Or that could be wishful thinking.. Haha! 8 more days till cast off! 🙂 x ps did any of you get itchy under the cast nearer the time the cast comes off?
