I took steri strips off yesterday and one inicision looked fine the other had been bleeding and oozing and looked tiny bit open in one place and looked quite red. Put new steri strips on like nurse told me to. More i looked at pics more i wasnt happy so rang out of hours nurse who advised me to keep it covered and sed it cud be bodies natural reaction to reject the stitches or cud be infection and the nurse from my clinic is going to call me on mon and decide if i need to be seen.
So today iv been in pain. Incisions feel tender and tight and hurt wen i move, its hard to describe. Also just tuk my temp and its 37.1 and thats after taking painkillers over an hour ago.
I would suggest calling the out of hours stitches can be rejected by the body which is true and may need to be snipped from either ends. If your breaSt’s feel very warm to touch and appear with red patchy skin, strong odor from near incisions and oozing white mucus then I would worry. With tenderNess it’s totally normal but you may have a bacterial infection on the scar antibiotics should clear that up or it could be nothing at all but your body healing in its own way x
Hi Laura , I honestly would t worry too much, I’m 7 weeks PO now and still have a slight problem with one of my incisions, take a look on my pics.
It’s still got a little scab on it and is more tender than the other side, when I saw the nurse she said it was fine.
Could it be your bra rubbing on the incision? This is what I think mine was
No its not rubbing coz iv gt steri strips on. Pic was taken wen i was changing them. Boobs arnt warm they are normal. Im worried bout the bit that was tiny bit open but cant even check to see if its better ir worse as steri strips are on.
Just looked at ut pic Lucy. Yours looks tiny bit open at the end?
Ye it’s really strange, some days it looks open and then looks scabby and closed , it’s fine at the min but the incision is definatlwy bruised, but I think that was my sports bra rubbing on it, iv ha problems with that incision since the beginning tho, it’s always been itchy and I developed blisters from the steri strips so were uncovered from 5 weeks, iv also had a lump under my incision where the bruise is and the nurse said it was fine.
If you had an infection I’m sure you would know
Do you still have stitches or have they been trimmed?
Until about 9 days ago I still had a little tiny part still there, was really annoying and felt sharp, one night it fell off in the bath
They should fall off in the next couple of weeks then, mine did.
I wouldn’t worry too much your incision look similar to mine did and mine is fine ( although it looks a bit poo) unsure if mine is a blood blister or bruising on incision, it feels fine tho
Ok thanks Lucy.
Nurse is ringing me today anyway.
Just wanted to update that the nurse from my clinic phoned me today and said she was more than happy to see me this week but I said I am going to take the steri strips off after shower and check if its got worse or better and then Ill make the decision if I need to be seen or not. and she advised me that it may be best to put more steri strips on after as obviously its taking longer to heal. So got no more left so going to get some from pharmacy.
