Leave incisions with nothing on them after dressings off? Started by: Anonymous

    I can take off my dressings tomorrow.. I got them changed on Friday but the nurse put smaller ones on me for the weekend and said to take them off myself on Monday. Do you just leave them completely uncovered after? What if the incision rubs against my bra and opens it up? I’m really nervous to take them off for good, so paranoid about hurting them x

    I had my strapping off at 8 days po and then i didn’t have anything on them. Theyve been absolutely fine no problems at all

    Had my dressing off at day 5 due to a reaction to steri strips, nurse left them uncovered as they had healed fine, she just have me some gauze to put in my bra incase it rubbed incisions

    That’s what i mean lLucy.. do you think i should get some gauze to stop them rubbing just in case? or do most people just go completely free like @jamiesimpson ? I guess i’m just worried cause all my bra bands are quite tight atm as my swelling and bloating hasn’t quite gone away yet x

    I had my strapping and dressings off at 5 days post op and have left them completely uncovered, and they have healed very well x

    The nurse gave me a handful to take home, but yeah I would get some as my incisions were sensitive and they helped

    I had my strapping off on Friday & nothing on them at all since but the nurse did give me some dressings to put over in case my sports bra rubbed but been fine so far. Xx

    I meant dressings off on Friday I didn’t have strapping!! Think I’m a bit hungover ha ha!! Xx

    Thank you guys, I wont worry so much then 🙂 Should I leave them on for my first shower or take them off then shower? And @clarec you can drink again without feeling ill now? Hope you enjoyed yourself! I’m itching to go out and have some fun haha x

    Have a shower without them on and my nurse advised me to pat the incisions dry with a clean separate towel if that helps. And yeah I managed pretty well to consume a good few glasses with no worse than usual effects, it was nice to get out although was paranoid about anyone getting too close to my boobs ha!! Xx

    I had my trappings up at 7 days post op and had nothing on the incisions since and they’ve been fine in a sports bra. I’ve also been told after showering I need to pat the incision area dry with a towel.

    Okay thank you guys! Ahh Clare I’d be the same! Glad nobody elbowed you though, I’d freak out if someone did to me.. might go ut in a suit of armor later this week haha xx

    I don’t know Rachael! Nurse told me nothing like bio oil until 6 weeks so I assume then! I really want to use an anti itch scar scream I’ve heard about though and I’d assume it’s meant for earlier on in the healing process, but I don’t wanna risk anything like infections etc x
