Hi I am having my BA on 15th June and wondered if girls could help me with some questions…I am having under the muscle teardrop so dont know if that makes a difference to the recovery time?

    1) how long do you have to sleep on your back for? I always sleep on my side so hoping surrounding myself in pillows will help to stop me from turning in my sleep!

    2) whats the best most comfortable sports bra? and how many did you buy?

    3) how long until you can wash your hair?

    4) i usually have eyelash extensions so wondering if you’re allowed them when having surgery as i assume they tape your eyes down but wondered if this would have an affect on infection etc?

    4) can i use sunbeds if i cover up the scars? (I have just come back from holiday and want to keep my tan while i cant put any fake tan on)

    Thanks ladies xxx

Hi Alexandra. Under the muscle takes longer to heal than overs, as it’s more invasive. You have to sleep sitting up until you’re comfortable with the weight of the implants and then you can start sleeping lying flat. As your body and chest will not be used to the extra weight, and can cause difficulty breathing when sleeping. I started lying flat 6 days post op. And started lying on my side at 2weeks post op, the tissue has to start healing and securing itself round the implant to stop it from moving. So I’d seek advice from your nurse before sleeping on your side (don’t want to end up with wonky boobs). Putting pillows around you defiantly helps you from turning on your side. V pillow also recommended! I bought macom, as it’s a compression garment, and the cups are expandable. I had no idea what size sports bra to get, so they were the safest option. At least 2 so you can swap whilst one is in the wash, can always add to the collection at a later date. You can wash your hair whenever. For the first week or so, you may need someone to do this for you over the bath, as it’s difficult lifting your arms up. Whatever you do, do not get your incisions wet! When you go for your 1 week post op check your nurse will give you the go ahead to have showers, where you can wash yourself as normal, no scrubbing on the incision, just letting the water run down them and dabbing them dry. No eyelashes, no make up, no moisturiser, no deodorant, no fake nails or nail polish, no fake tan for 2weeks prior, no jewellery or anything before surgery. Must be completely natural. Your not allowed to put any products on your scars until you’re 6weeks and had your 6 week check up. Defiantly no fake tan on them, you’ve got to let your skin heal, also if you use a sun bed make sure your scar are covered as your skin will be so fragile it’ll burn easily, and the sun/sunbeds can make the scar worse looking by pigmenting the skin. Think I’ve answered everything 🙂 xx
