No support from dad Started by: Lauren Elliff

So I’ve just come back from my pre op at Leeds, felt so excited, until I walked through the door to be screamed at by my dad. After explaining my reasons for wanting a BA (to be more confident and feel like a woman) he told me I was pathetic. He told me I look like a circus pony and that I’m going to look like a tart and a trollop and that if I go through with it I better do it on my way and find somewhere else to live.
My mom was worried and wasn’t exactly happy about my decision but she understands and has come around and accepted that this is something I need to do. My cousin had also had a BA about 14 years ago so she understands but also doesn’t want me to go too big.
This is meant to be such an exciting time for me but I feel so physically and emotionally drained from all the aggro I’m getting. I even asked my dad if he was going to carry on this way and he said “yes, from start to finish”.
I just don’t know what to do because I can’t take much more 🙁
    Help!

Hi Hun, seems like your having a rough time, your dad needs to understand your reasons for doing this and be more supportive he also needs to understand that this is life changing for you and it’s not a decision you’ve made lightly.. He’s being really harsh in his choice of words, remember it’s your body, having a boob job doesn’t mean having big ‘Trollop’ implants it means you can feel better about yourself and feel more like a woman, your an adult now so I’d say think of yourself and have it done. I haven’t told anyone about my surgery and I don’t feel anyone needs to know I’m not interested in other peoples opinions it is after all for me and is my business nothing to do with anyone else.. Good luck Hun I hope you get it sorted with your dad and do still go ahead with surgery xx

My mom says it’s his way of trying to get his point across, but he’s not doing it very well and he’s just upsetting me in the process. I’m 100% still having it done – my op is 6th of July. It’s just difficult for to do knowing how much he hates it. As you say though it’s not something I’m taking lightly and it’s something I feel I need to do.
I just hope he calms down before my op so I can get excited about it cos I’m really not at the minute xx

Give him some time to calm down and approach him again.. Maybe he will come round to the idea.. Or even write a letter that way he can’t interrupt you and shout he’s just got to read and think about how’s he’s being and about you xx

Yeh that’s a good idea. I might get my mom to speak to him and if all else fails write a letter. May even stay with friends for a few days to have some space!
Thanks for your advice 🙂 xx
