    Hi ladies

    I don’t know if my belly button is infected? It’s been 21 days since my tummy tuck, my belly button is still numb so I wouldn’t know if something was wrong as I can’t feel it. I don’t have a temperature but my belly button looks angry and red. I’ve tried phoning the clinic all day but there was no answer, I’ve e-mailed my PC but she’s off till Friday. I daren’t put anything on it in case it voids my aftercare and “warranty”. I’ve posted a pic and would love opinions? Should I go to my GP or walk in centre tomorrow or would that void my “warranty”?

    Hi hun….im not a clinician but I think red is ok. One good way to tell is to get someone to have a sniff. Ifgit doesn’t smell good then it is likely to be a sign of infection xx

    I just had a look and I don’t think it looks infected only bruised maybe? And the numbness you were talking about I haven’t had a tummy tuck but I had a breast augmentation and my boobs were numb for at 6 weeks. So that bit must be normal as I’ve heard of other girls who still feel numb. Maybe just put some ice on it if it’s sore and feels swollen and take some pan killers xx

    Thanks Jamie. It doesn’t hurt at all but I do think my stomach is slightly swollen. I’ll try an ice pack over my girdle thingy see if that helps xx

    From what I’ve read numbness is normal as not takes time for the nerve endings to repair and grow back..
    But if you’re unsure definitely see a doctor. Do t think by getting reassurance with another fellow doctor/GP voids any warranty. It’s not like they’ll re-do anything.. It’s better to be safe than sorry..

    Thanks ladies. My brilliant nurse saw or got told about my post on this forum and rang me the next morning and got me into clinic today! There was just a few stitches left hiding in my belly button and they were causing some irritation, no infection! She whipped the stitches out and gave my belly button a good clean and it looks amazing! The staff at MYA have been top notch since my op in my opinion, couldn’t fault them at all! X
