I am on antibiotics and my BA is in 6 days – Will it be cancelled? Started by: Sophie

    Hi girls,
    I am due to have my op in 6 days (this Sunday) and I am currently on antiobiotics until Wednesday.
    I tried to ring MYA Friday after I had got out the doctors and obviously it is shut and not open until tomorrow.
    Any girls been in the same situation – will the op still be able to go ahead? xx

    A really hideous cough. The antibiotics I am on are called Erythromycin xx

    Erythromycin are pretty standard antibiotics and I know that a lot of the surgeons would prescribe that group of antibiotics following surgery anyway, to prevent you getting an infection. The main problem is that if you’ve had an infection your immune system may not be in peak form to look after you following surgery. I’d give them a ring tomorrow but hopefully it’ll be ok with you completing the course a few days ahead.
