    Hey

Had my pre-op today, which went ok! booked in for BA on 16th December, but looks like I may have to cancel my op as I have no-one to come with me! I thought I’d be ok getting the train down, having my op, staying overnight in a nearby hotel and getting train back next day but nope…didn’t realise i had to have an adult with me the whole time! i am going to struggle to get someone to come with me, and my hubby can’t come as he will be at home with my little girls….i don’t want my mam to know and she won’t be able to take time off work so not sure what to do……..

have other people been on their own? another company i went for a consultation with was going to provide a car to pick me up, stay overnight and take me home the next day…i’ll be on my own then?

bit gutted to say the least…..any advice?xx

No you need to leave with someone and if I’m totally honest you will need it too. I know I did. I couldn’t do much at all until day 4!! X

Oh no! I think because you have to have a general they need to make sure youre ok, i did feel iffy for about 48 hours after. I wouldnt have wanted to be on my own either to be honest, my hubby came with my 2 kids, spent the day in manchester (I had my op at Bridgewater) and then picked me up in the evening and we all stopped in a premier inn nearby. Would it be an option for your oh to do something like that? I do think its best to have someone with you, you never know how you will feel after, you might be fine but just incase, its good to have someone nearby xx

Aah that’s what I was thinking actually….wasn’t sure if he was allowed to leave me at all tbh! And obv kids aren’t allowed there! Is it general anaesthetic?! I’m actually surprised they can do a daycase with GA. Just worried the girls will want cuddles etc on the night, they’re only 11 months and 2.5! But it’s my only option! Thanks girls xx

My little ones are 3 and 13 months partner went back to work today (5 days po) and it’s been okay! Haven’t cuddled them until todsy though, I couldn’t even sit up without help until day 4. No you only need someone to collect you, you don’t have to have someone with you through the whole thing. I had a 7 am admission time, went down at 9:30 I was second on list. Back in room by 11;30 and discharged by 3pm but no issues everything went well no sickness or anything. Yes it was a general aesthetic xx

Yeah you can be on your own in the hospital, I enjoyed the peace and quiet just watching tv and reading my magazines lol. Then my hubby came and picked me up, they actually let him and the kids come in to my room while i waited for my meds before i left. They ask you to be within an hour of the hospital so that if anything did happen they can send a nurse out to you. My eldest is almost 5 so he understood but my youngest is only 2 and she did understand a bit too. i just gave her kisses and cuddles from a distance lol! If youre in manchester there is a sealife center and legoland discovery centre your oh can visit, thats what my hubby did lol! Kids had a great day and it all worked out quite well. Hope you manage to sort something xx

Your in exactly the same situation as me! My op is 15th jan at fitzroy and my husband is having to look after my little boy, who will be 6 months then. They will leave me to have op all day as no children are allowed, and spend the day in London, then they will pick me up when I’m all done and we are all staying at a closeby hotel. Maybe the same thing would work for you. Don’t let it make you cancel. It’s a shame your not having yours done a day earlier on the same day as me! Hope you sort it out 🙂 xx

I’m in a similar situation, my bf was coming with be until he applied for a course at uni and his last day lands the same day as my op 🙁 so I was having a panic but the plan was he would come pic me up later that evening. Then luckily Katina who’s having her op same day suggested leaving with her the my bf pick me up from hers. Then my friend says she’d come with me but she can’t stop over night so I’m going home after which is 2 and a half hours away. She just needs to comfirm she can book it off work if not back to plan B. X

Hi, I went in alone, stayed overnight then got a car to the hotel the next day alone, I had overs, dont know if that makes a difference. It can be done, some girls have done it too. xx
