So I thought I’d write down all that happened today as it helped me reading other people’s!
The hospital I was at was first trust in Preston, and my surgeon was Mr traynor! I had 450cc high profile implants- they were meant to be overs but Mr traynor made the last minute decision to do partials due to lack of tissue at the top. My admission time was 12 and I arrived at around half 11. I was taken straight to my room by a nurse and asked to change into my gown and paper knickers. Just as I finished getting changed me traynor came in and drawn on me. This was when he decided to do partials and I then went on to ask about this and he explained everything really well along with the occasional joke (he’s very sarcastic but very funny!!)
About half an hour later the anaesthetist came in and asked questions and filled in a form. I asked him if I could speak to Mr traynor again about the whole partials thing and about an hour later Mr traynor came back in and spoke to me, and then all of a sudden he said “right were ready for you now! The nurse will be along in a minute ” and this was when I got very nervous. The nurse came in and took my blood pressure etc, gave me my socks to wear, put a wrist band on and then filled in another form. I then was walked to the anaesthetist room where I laid on the bed and my piercings (all plastic) were covered with tape. The anaesthetist put the canular in my hand (he said my vein was very thin and struggled a bit but he got it in in one go haha) he then put in liquid paracetamol and something to calm me down as I was very nervous. He called this “a bottle of wine” and I felt a bit dizzy after this! They then wheeled me into theatre and then said he was going to put me to sleep and the whole time they continued to talk to me and tell me everything would be fine. And then the next thing I knew I was waking up! I was very panicky when I woke up and cried (no idea why!! Was just because of the anaesthetic), and I was shaking so the nurse put a cover over me and I soon calmed down and stopped shivering. After that I came around properly and had to laugh it off a bit as I didn’t know why Id even cried!
They wheeled me back to my room and then I had to shuffle across to my bed and they covered me back up to keep me warm. I had a drip in my canular to keep me hydrated and I just felt very tired and in a bit of pain. I asked for some medication and they brought them quite quickly. After they started to work I felt pretty normal! They kept coming in and out to take my blood pressure, and Mr traynor came in to see me and told me everything was fin e and gave me a pat on the head as if got upset haha! ( I think he done this when i first woke up as well but can’t remember properly). After a while a nurse came in and helped me put on my sports bra and I had a little walk around. I then had a cup of tea and some biscuits and then I feel pretty much back to normal apart from the odd ache and discomfort when i move too much. A few hours later I was told to get dressed and if I was okay I was allowed to go. I was given my implant information and some medication, and my canular was taken out and now I’m in a hotel!
I feel fine now and plan to just stay on top of my medication! Hungry and tired but that’s about it really. It’s nothing to worry about and I wish I hadn’t got so worked up about it!
All the staff were absolutely lovely and kept me calm all the way through! The hospital was really nice and clean too.ive had a great experience and would defintely recommend the hospital and Mr traynor to anyone. So far I love my new boobs and I’ll put some pictures on when they’re feeling a little less sore!
Thanks for everyone’s help on here!xxx
Aaw lovely story! Glad it all went well for you.
I have my BA in 17 days & my nerves are getting worse by the day haha! Can’t wait for it all to be over though & finally have boobs!! Xx
@candice85candy It has been so much better than i expected! Honestly I know it’s normal to be nervous. I was a complete wreck today before mine but it really isn’t anything to worry about! I’m sure it’ll all go fine for you and it’ll be worth it! Yeah I was the same, I just want to be all back to normal now with my new additions. Just need a bit of patience I guess haha xx
Thanks Hun for sharing this story!! I’m at Preston next Friday and so excited! glad to hear its a nice hospital with nice staff. Makes the whole event go that bit more smoothly. Xxxx
So pleased it went well for you and hope you recover quickly. What was it like having cannular removed? I’m a huge needle phobe and being put to sleep with gas before they insert it, such a baby! Xx
Ah this has helped me so much! Glad yours went well. I am so so nervous about the cannula and anesthetic etc! I have mine in 6 days! Xx
@jessicamessenger it’s no problem, it helped me reading other people’s too. It really is lovely, and all of the staff there are really helpful. Honesty you have nothing to worry about, they really help the whole situation xxxx
@sr93 thank you Sophie! It’s nowhere near as bad as I expected. But sore today, especially if I tense or anything but been keeping on top of medication and its not been too bad. Just a bit of backache etc. don’t think I’m too swollen either. Honestly I didn’t feel them take it out! They take it out quite quickly. aw really haha? I was so worried about getting it put in but it literally felt like a scratch! Did my hurt at all so don’t be too worried! Feels a little bruised now but that’s all
Good luck with your op and I hope it all goes well!xx
@eleanorerg glad it helped you! It really helped with my nerves reading other people’s! Thank you! And I was too, honestly you have nothing to worry about at all. I got myself so worked up about it all on the day and wish I hadn’t now! Aw good luck with yours, I’m sure it will all go well! Where/who are you having?xx
Did you feel the needle go into your vein? Haha was it like trying to keep your eyes open and you physically couldn’t babe?
I’m petite so just having 250cc HP implants 🙂 xx I’m buzzing!! X
I’m glad you’re not in too much pain, your story has made me much more relaxed! I have funny vains so can take quite a few attempts to get a line in so easier if I’m asleep first as stresses me out lol. Thank you Hun, good luck with the rest of your recovery. Xx
@eleanorerg nope I actually didn’t! I expected to but barely felt it at all! Honestly I’m not sure I even tried haha! I was so scared and he just said he was going to put me to sleep and the nurse put an oxygen mask on me and then I can’t remember a thing! Was so quick! Aw I bet you can’t wait! I was worried mine would be a little too big but they really aren’t anywhere near as big as I expected! They don’t feel big. Just the right size I think. Just have to wait till they settle in now I suppose!xxx
@sr93 yeah same! Quite surprised really. I’ve read the first day after the op is the worst but I don’t feel too bad. But sore and tight etc that’s all. Hurts if I tense or lean on my arms though! I can’t flush the chain or cut my own food haha! Feel like a baby!
I’m glad it’s helped! Ah right well it’ll be better for you then if you get stressed! It’ll be over before you know it 🙂 no problem, thank you!xx
Ah do they normally put the oxygen mask on patients? What did it feel like? It’s crazy how your skin can stretch etc xx
@eleanorerg I have no idea! Don’t know if they do it all time or if it was because I was panicking a bit! I honestly can’t remember a single thing after that. Just remember it smelling a bit funny when she put it on my face. And then I just woke up. It’s weird to think I’ve had an operation, it doesn’t feel like I have haha! It is isn’t it! My skin must be so tight around the implants. It’s quite hard to breathe and they feel hard. Even if I stand up they don’t feel like they’ll move or anything so I’m guessing that’s the most that would fit in there!xx
Haha, oh gosh! At least it gives you an excuse to have everyone spoil you hehe. I’m most worried about not being able to cuddle and carry my little girl, will be really hard! Do they feel like yours yet or still feel alien? Can just imagine I’ll be knocking everything over with mine
Awh glad you’re experience wasn’t bad! Did you wash your hair etc on the day ? Xx
@sr93 haha yeah that’s true! I had to get my sister to pass me a bottle of water that was on the top near me because I can’t turn my body enough to reach!
Aw yeah I can imagine that will be very hard! How old is she? I’m sure you’ll still be able to have a cuddle as long as you’re sat down and you’re both careful! The weeks will fly past and you’ll be back to normal in no time. It’ll all be worth it 🙂 tbh they’ve not felt alien from the start, they feel like mine! I don’t feel as though they’re much bigger atm but I know they’re going to drop and fluff etc so not worried. They just ache and it’s hard moving my arms. Nothing like I expected! Hahaha yeah I was thinking that before mine!xx
@eleanorerg yeah me too, I’m sure yours will be great too! I washed it the night before my op because I wanted to be prepared as I was setting off early! I had a shower on the morning though with my hibiscrub. And afterwards I honestly can’t move my arms enough to do much! Only sat around the house so I’ll cope haha!xx
Hi Laura so glad it went well for you!! How do u feel? It’s weird having boobs isn’t it haha. Ur right everyone is so lovely at Preston it really makes it an enjoyable experience!
@sr93 don’t worry I have 2 little ones the youngest being 1 yr old and it’s been easier than I thought. Ive been lifting her in and out her cot and putting her in and out of her high chair since 10 days post op. The first week I avoiding lifting her etc which was hard!! But then when u feel better in yourself you will know what u feel u can and can’t do 🙂 xxx
@atcherashlee thank you! I’m not too bad actually! Bit stiff and feels tight but not as bad as I expected! Just keeping on top of my meds. It is weird! I don’t feel like they’re very big at the minute but no doubt they’ll change lots anyway! They really are lovely aren’t they! How are you feeling now anyway?xx
@archerashlee tagged you wrong haha!
@laurawight haha! I’m good thank you! Yes they will change loads – I feel like mine are getting bigger – the right has dropped slightly and left abit higher and harder. I’m starting to feel less out of breath now (I’m 14 days post op) and pretty much back to normal routine. But yes boobs are lovely I like to unzip my sports bra and just look at them hahaha xxx
@archerashlee aw good! Yeah I hope so! I hope they get a bit bigger and rounder! Oh good, sounds like they’re well on their way to healing! Mine are both rock hard at the minute! Keep on sitting and prodding them, feels so strange!
Oh good I’m glad you like them! Hahaha that’ll be me in a few weeks time no doubt xxx
Hehe that’s great, My hubby’s going to become my slave! She’ll 2 in less than 2 weeks, can’t believe it. She’s quite rough but is very loving so she’ll probs want to look after me more than my hubs! Oh that’s alright then, was worried they would just feel really weird and not like mine. Yeah I’m sure once they’ve settled they’ll be amazing! Xx
Do you just feel normal in your self just achey and tight chest then? I’m so glad it wasn’t as bad as you thought, makes me so much more relaxed. Not really sure how to expect to feel as seems to vary so much! Xx
@sr93 yeah I feel pretty normal, just really tired because I didn’t sleep properly last night. It’s just hard getting used to sleeping upright, and the cocodamol was making me feel a bit sick but it’s fine now. Very bloated but I bought some senakot so hopefully be fine.
Honestly you have nothing to worry about. I wish I’d not been so worked up. Afterwards make sure you use your arms a bit when you can, makes it a little less stiff, but not too much. I can’t lean on mine or cut my food haha but it really isn’t bad at all! A lot of people have said the day after is the worst and if this is the worst I don’t know why I was worried!
Glad I’ve been able to help though 🙂 it does seem to vary, I suppose it depends on threshold etc but just keep on top of your meds and rest and you’ll be completely fine I’m sure!xx
