Okay so I had my op on Tuesday & have been wearing a Macom 34 back since then (usually wear a 32) by Thursday it was already loose around the band so I tightened it, still loose. I’m so uncomfortable in my Macom so I went looking for sports bras & I got literally nowhere. The lady in m&s told me not to bother with a sports bra because my swelling will go down but I tried on a 34D anyway which she refused to help me decide if it fits or not. And when I went in debenhams looking for a shock absorber that lady told me she ‘doesn’t like messing with fake ones’ and wouldn’t measure me, just said I look like a 32D but they didn’t have any in stock – she then told me shock absorbers aren’t suitable for me but wouldn’t tell me why! I ended up leaving with nothing and I ordered two zip up styles from m&s in 34D which have come today and the band was way too tight but cups fit perfectly. Basically I just feel really out of my depth but am desperate to find something comfier than my Macom as its riding up every time I sit down! Does anybody know somewhere I can go that will help me out with sizes? As I don’t even know how they’re supposed to look and feel 🙁

Lucy I got this one from tesco and find it really comfortable, I just went I. There and tried two or three on till I found the best fit, also bought a stretchy medium support one from tkmaxx which I have been wearing over the top of my macom for work as I too found that the band was too loose once the swelling went down but they work well together for support while I’m driving all day. I think unfortunately you have to go and try them on when it’s early days to get the best fit. X

I’ve tried some asda ones felt like my boobs were gonna fall off! I’ll go to tesco and try that one on thanks Tracey 🙂 it’s just so disheartening when the people who’s job it is to help you find something that fits are so dismissive and rude. And with my emotions arent handling it very well haha xxx

I haven’t even tackled being properly measured yet, I’m not looking forward to it to be honest and I’ve read some bad reviews about a few of the high street stores including m&s! I’ll give it a go when I get to 6 weeks, I’m 3 weeks today I got the 32d in the tesco one and I always wore a 34 AA but think I must have been wearing the wrong band size all along but cos I had no boobs it didn’t really matter ha ha, good luck with the quest! Xx 🙂

The same happened to me in m&s…not nice ladies in there lol. Luckily my auntie is a bra fitter otherwise I’d have been stuck. The extra high impact bras are really comfy though xo

If I were you I’d be writing a complaint to these places! It’s almost discrimination and I’m shocked that in this economy they can be selective over who they choose to provide customer service to. It’s not on! I had my op same day as you and found the same about the macom, it’s sits literally at my incision line. I had bought two cheap shock absorbers from eBay and they have been a god send although I’m not sure what size you’d buy? My surgeon told me to buy a 36E I was wearing a 34B and had 375/405cc

    Hope you find something xxx

I wasn’t sure if I was being a little too over emotional about it so I didn’t say anything but the more I think about it I’ll definitely be going in and complaining when I feel abit more emotionally stable haha! I’d probably break down in tears as I am now! I think I’m gonna try and go out again tomorrow and just try lots of different sizes and styles on. I’ll order one of those eBay ones in a 34D and a 36D I think and send back which ever doesn’t fit, thanks Hun 🙂 xxxx

I’ve just got back from bra shopping and it was a disaster too. I don’t know where to start. I looked in asda, M&S debenhams, primark and a little department store in my home town. The lady in m&s looked at me like I was filth when I said it was for after breast enlargement. Xx

I bought a pack of two black and white nursing bras from m&s, they refused to measure me aswel because of swelling but I was rather annoyed because I walked 25 minutes from mya to get measured for one and they were quite rude if I’m honest so I just purchased xl in thus pack of 2 and they’re supportive not as much as the shock absorbers but they’re so comfortable, they were 29.99 for 2 xxx

Im also in the same boat. I ordered 2 shock absorbers from next and I couldnt get them done up round my back before surgery let alone after with my swelling.. Luckily I’ve just got a normal lonsdale sports bra I got from sports direct but don’t feel like it is supportive enough xx

I can’t believe that ladies in several m&s shops are being so rude & unhelpful! Agree about possibly complaining. There’s no way they should be refusing to help you. Checking if something fits is checking if something fits! It shouldn’t matter if you’re post op or not. Hope you got something sorted hun x

That was so rude! If it wasn’t illegal I’d slap their face! Definately complain! Do it in writing, make a letter when you’re calmer. Write down the branch, the date and rough time as I can guarantee you they will find who they are. At least the team will get a talking to. Its unacceptable, and it’s pure jealousy which I agree with the comment above/ it’s discriminating. IF there’s a practical reasoning like (swelling) she could say so. Complain! Don’t let them get away with it!

Thanks for the support girls it’s good to know I wasn’t just over reacting 🙂 I’ve been bra shopping again today and found some finally! I got two from tesco which were medium support, mainly going to use them for in between washes and things though. And I got the pack of two from asda which are labelled ‘active support’ and they are a brilliant fit! At tesco I got a 34D and at asda I was a 34E – hope this gives an idea of size difference between the two shops. I’ll post pictures of the two on this thread when I get a minute 🙂

In regards to the m&s lady I’m definitely complaining – for all she knew I was post op after having a mastectomy or reconstructive surgery, she didn’t ask what op it was! And either way she shouldn’t be making judgements. If anybody does find anywhere nice and helpful for post op bra shopping maybe create a thread about it to help others out? Seems as though lots of us are leaving feeing upset and annoyed!
