I’ve booked my surgery for the end of may, and am really excited. I’m a curvy girl and years of not eating the right food has left pockets of stubborn fat that will not go despite running 25k a week. I’m booked in for vaser on my flanks, tummy and inner thighs but have a few.worries that I wished I’d asked at my consultation!
I hate the thought of being awake through the op – do you know if GA is an option?
Also really worried about loose skin on my tummy – is there anything you can recommend to reduce this?

Hi there – GA is def an option, I had it although I didn’t realise until I woke up. But, before I went in, the anaesthetist explained he would monitor me very closely and if you show any signs of real discomfort or something unusual happens – see my account in this forum – he will put you fully under. They are very reassuring in this area and one of the reasons I chose a clinic with a full surgical theatre facility, a smaller outfit would not have had this possibility!!!

Skin-wise it will totally depend on the natural elasticity but the compression garment will really help as long as you wear it properly. Hope you are still excited and if you want to see my progress I have pre-picture of stubborn pockets of fat also and will update with more when there is some obvious improvement!!
    Good luck x

Oh and btw you are not awake – I was sedated before the GA for a good 25 mins and I don’t remember a thing!!!

Thanks Bel. I didn’t realise they had the choice to put you right under if need be. I was told LA and thought just numbing and didn’t realise they sedate as well. Wad really worried I might be able to feel things and knowing what was happening might make me freak out a bit!
I plan to wear my garment as instructed – hopefully it won’t be too uncomfortable!!

It’s weird I actually quite like the garment – it pulls everything in and is kind of your protective layer for all the hideous bruising (which lets face it NEEDS to be covered up!!) and water bed thighs!!
Saying that I have only been in it 9 days and I think in a few more weeks will be pretty desperate to get it off, especially if it gets warmer!!

The advice is a bit different – before they said 4 weeks but at my last post op they said 6! Other surgeons only think a week is needed and then at night for the remainder. See how I am at 4 weeks I think!! Good luck with your op in May – hope to see some great pics of your improvement!
