Hi lady’s, if anyone smokes, did you all stop before the op??!x
I stopped 2 weeks before hun but its worth it as if you smoke greater risk of infection xx
I stopped 6weeks before. my sis had a few infection when she carried on smoking she stopped and the infection went so must make a difference xx
I also know that some surgeons if they find out you’ve smoked can refuse to operate on you so it must be a big thing to not smoke!! Also hun gives you motivation to stop as well xxx
1st op I tried to give to up 2nd op went over to the ecig and ive given up over one year 1/2 now x
Oh no, I’m 5 day pre op, I’m on the e cig but have still been having like 1 or 2 a day!! Il do my best not too from now on!! Well done everyone for stopping!!xx
@annie22 2 weeks before my opp I tried to completely stop which didn’t happen eventually cut down to around 2 a day! I’m 8 days post opp now and my incision has healed and had no infection! I was so nervous before the opp as I had been smoking that something would go wrong! Obviously not saying it is ok to smoke just to say I know how hard it is!! However as soon as I had the opp I completely stopped I think once you’ve had it done and you can see them there it gives you more of an incentive! Best of luck xx
I was told even ecigs will higher your risk of infection as you are still putting nicotine in your body. It’s so hard to stop especially if your nervous about the op. I’m having my op on Monday and have cut right down…but not stopped yet.xxxx
Hey chick nothing is proven with Ecigs but you can get low nicotine ones with fruit teast I had to a blow teast with midwife few weeks and on the chart 1-45 on smoking I was 2 On chart and 1 being the best and 45 being well over she said 1-6 was normal everyday like the crap in air from cars in stuff band rest of it I have 8mg in per bottle this last 2 weeks x
Thanks girls with ecig or fags the Nic isn’t the problem it’s all the other crap they put in fags which u won’t with ecig ️xx
this is chart the midwife used on me sorry wasnt 42 as the highest it was 30
Well I thought that ecigs were okay myself.but when I asked my surgeon (Dr mounir ) if I could use a Ecig, he told me that I’d still be higher risk of infection due to the nicotine in them. Because of the nicotine you carry less oxygen in your blood and that slows down the healing progress. But if you were that low on the chart above then…I might just go on the ecigs too.xx
You will be better off they have to say that as its not been proven but if think how much Nic is one fag there’s loads becareful which ones you get. I use this place to get mine it’s only down the road from me http://www.eciguk.net They do 0% Nic aswell so if u wanted to drop lower than 8mg you add a 0% to it x
Thanks hun 🙂 will defo have a look. It’s more of a habit than a addiction for me. So a low dose of nicotine would be ideal I think. Thank u.xxx
Stopping probably is the best, but I tried to for 2 weeks before op and couldn’t, so I just reduced to 1 a day (a tiny bit every now and then). I didn’t smoke on the day of op, and when the nurse asked me I did feel embarrassed that I had smoked but she said that’s ok as long as it’s not on the day of the op. I haven’t smoked ever since though, and so far so good, no infections or associated problems (touch wood lol). It really is more important not to smoke while you’re healing…
Good luck x
For sure it will be chick xx
Awww well done chick I only do this with habit now but saying that I like teast of diffrent fruit liquids you get this wot put me off smoking real cigs xx
Thank you all!!! I’m doing my best to stop, I’m down to 2/3 and day and I defiantly won’t smoke day of my op!!!! You’ve all made me feel much better I was panicking so much thinking something awful would happen because iv been smoking haha!!x
