Hey girls!
Why is it so important to sleep upright? Had my op Monday, and I tried doing it on my first night and got no sleep whatsoever!! then the second night I slept almost laying down but had loads of pillows behind my back for support, and have been doing that since! Wondered if it’s bad that I’m doing this and need to sleep upright?? I could manage absolutely fine laying almost on my back, but wondered why we actually sleep upright?
Worrying about it hah!! Thank you!
Xxx
When I asked this question nurse said it’s something to do with healing quicker and ur implants not moving around to the wrong place and drainage or something for the first two weeks xx

Okay thank you, gonna have to try this again tonight then lmao!!!xxx
Also for the swelling hun, i had my op on tuesday and cant blimming wait to have a proper sleep laying down!!! Feel like the huntchback atm!! Xxx
Oops,
This is what I’ve been doing as I’ve been sliding down. I hope I haven’t done damage,
You have me worried now lol xxx
It’s to help the swelling and to relieve any pressure on the chest. I’m sleeping at 45 degree angle and everything is fine. I’m 13 days post op so will be starting to go onto my back soon. Can’t lay on side though for 6 weeks apparently!
I’ve just woke up and I had slipped down quite a lot, I’m post op day 4 and still feel sore. Did you? The worries eh ?Xx
Put a pillow under your bum to prevent you from slipping I suffered with that! I’m two weeks post op but i have been told a 45 degree angle for 6 weeks helps swelling otherwise swelling sits on the chest. Not sure if that recommendation was specific to me so best to speak to the nurse! X
Haha I know Rosie!! I would say I’ve been 45 degree angle but I’ve been slipping!! And it bloody kills my back!!! I also wake up in the night because I’m dieing to turn on my side and sick of sleeping in one position?? the things we do for boobs xxx
It’s so all the fluid drains quicker and to encourage your implants to drop 🙂 they can settle anywhere if you lie down flat Gravity has to do its job for now! Last time I slept at 45 degree angle for a week and the the nurse said I was fine to lie on just 2 pillows because I couldn’t sleep at all! I’m only 2 days post op now and I keep waking up slid right down the bed it’s so hard!!xxx
Ohhhh yes it makes sense when you put it like that!! It’s so difficult isn’t it haha, almost impossible!!xxx
I know it’s horrible ? I’ve lost nearly a stone in 5 months since my last op and my surgeon said I need to put weight back on and I’m just sat in bed eating dominos and Ben and jerrys ice cream feeling sorry for myself haha! Just sit up right all day whilst you’re awake and that will do a lot of good then if you do slip down in your sleep then it won’t be too bad ? That’s how I think of it haha!xxx
hahahaha that’s the high life haha!! I’ve had some Ben and Jerrys ice cream this afternoon, absolutely love it! I’m feeling quite good today, like almost my normal self so I’m venturing out the house and going to the cinema!! bored of this house? yes that’s how I see it haha, good thinking!!xxx
Aww I wish I could go to the cinema I’m going crazy!! My mum picked me up and took me to get my daughter from pre school and I went to the park with her for half an hour which got me out but I’m back home and bored again now 🙁 can’t believe I can’t even drive for another 5 days i honestly don’t know what to do with myself ?? I can’t remember being this bored last time!! I think I just slept for a week last time and now I’m wide awake all the time and full of energy! How many days post op are you?xxx
I know what you mean hun it’s gets so boring, I mean I love a good lazy day but you get tired and irritated after a while? Cinema was good though, was tired when I got home! Got no sleep last night, really finding this sleeping upright thing difficult:( sleeping on the sofa tonight to see if that helps!! I had my op Monday Hun so week post op tomorrow xxx
I am having my op on 25th May and going by to work 11 days later – I work as a teaching Assistant so really hoping this will be enough time based on what you guys have said- what do you think?
I’m sure that’s enough time, you’ll be feeling fine by the start of your 1 week post op (I feel fine now anyway but that’s me) the only thing with me is I’m so exhausted from my enough sleep! I got back to work on Tuesday, and I’m on my feet all day so I’ve been off work for around 8 days! Sure you’ll be fine hun, bet you’re excited 🙂 xxx
Thank you! Yep I am but I am quite scared too ! Do you have to wait a week to take bandages off ? Is that with nurse or surgeon? X
You will be its natural, it’s unbelievable how quick the process is!! It’s all over before you know it? yeah, depending on the surgeon you have you’ll have strapping or just plasters, but they’ll be removed by the nurse at your 1 week check up!xxx
