Hi I’ve just been told you are suppose to stop smoking 4 weeks before op which I didn’t know til today and it’s only 2 weeks til I go to get my ba. I don’t smoke a lot and I am going to stop I just want to know if they do any sort of test when you get to the hospital to see when you have or if you have stopped smoking thanks x
I stopped smoking a week before and have stayed off them! So I’m happy! Didn’t smoke too much anyway. Don’t worry there is no test. The reason they suggest you stop smoking is due to increased chances of infection afterwards, affects on GA and also your body recovery time. Xx
Hi Hun, I literally stressed myself out so much about smoking and if they test you, I did the same and used a vaporiser, worked a treat still also had a few normal fags to, they didn’t do any test, so don’t stress to much Hun x x
It is two weeks but I stopped the day before & then 6 days after. It’s mainly as it can cause infection and worse scarring but it depends on how you heal. I used a vapour cigarette!x
in my surgeon app the other day i was worried about apps being cancelled on the day etc, he said ”people come in stinking of smoke when they’ve been told not to and wonder why they’re apps are cancelled”. so i would just be careful xxxx
Don’t stress.. I got told it was 2 weeks before! You’ll be fine..
I’ve been using vapour. From smoking like 10 a day its hard but Wanted to quite anyways so best excuse to stop is for a BA!! :)) hehe xxx
