What am i to expect at my pre op!?
im aware they do tests etc but is your PC there too? Is this where they tell you about post op bras and all this sort of information as I feel clueless and everyone on here seems to know what theyre talking about haha!? xxx
hi @Hannah my pre op was very quick – you can ask to see your PC if you want.
the nurse will go through a few medical questions – and make sure all the information you gave was correct – then they will take swabs from your armpit and nose.
what I suggest Is write down all the questions you can think of and take them with you – the nurse can answer most of your medical questions xx
I also had a blood test, blood pressure & heart rate, height & weight. Your pretty standard medical stuff 🙂
Oh…and I had my pre-op photos taken so off with the bra & top yet again!
Best of luck with it!
thanks girls, so this isnt when you get info about Macom bras or anything just all medical stuff? its all i see people talking about and ive no idea about any of that stuff haha !? xxx
You get told to buy a MaCom and given the discount code for 15% off (which I think was MYA2016, not sure off the top of my head)
If you wanna nose ahead of time http://www.macom-medical.com/post-surgery/bras 🙂
They will also give you a list of things to look for in a post-surgery bra if you don’t want to buy a Macom. I don’t know how much I trust it though because it kept saying to buy a back closure bra. Sure they meant ‘not’ or ‘front closure’
Aww thank you for your help !! I think i need to have a nosey – starting to feel unprepared now surgery is a month away!! xxx
No problem, lovely! My surgery is in August too (the 1st) and I’m getting myself stupid prepared right now.
I think being able to plan everything & control everything I can before surgery helps me feel less nervous, hah. 🙂
Hi Hannah, talk to your surgeon about post op bras as they all have different preferences. Mine told me not to buy the Macom as he prefers the M&S sports bras as they have a medium support and let the breasts sit naturally. But as I said they all say different so it’s best to check with your PC if you want to be sure x
Hi carly,
I really struggle to get replies from her and feel annoying as it is, this is why i was hoping all the info was given at the pre op as im guessing after that you dont see anyone again until op day!!
I dont feel like ive been told half the stuff i need to know xxx
My consultation was lengthy and not rushed at all which was lovely, but I wasn’t advised to buy anything other than a front fastening bra, a Macom wasn’t talked about at all. It wasn’t until I found this forum 6 days after my operation that I knew about that bra but I guess it’s a little late now! Xx
I had a bit of an issue sometimes with a reply
Ring them though
They probably get a bazillion messages a day
I had another appointment with pc as I wanted to try out different sizes again and asked more questions
It’s part of what you pay for – just make as many appointments you want to!
Hi Hannah,
At my pre op my nurse told me all about bras, she advised me to get a Macom and an m&s or asda sports bra. Ask her what sizes you should be getting…I think they tell you to get one back and cup size up from your expected result but I can’t really remember so definitely ask! I got a couple of different sizes just in case! The nurse was fab and was able to answer all of my questions! No question is a silly one!!
Keep trying your PC!
There is also ‘the boobie bible’ on the forum somewhere which is worth having a look at, lots of tips 🙂
Good luck Hun xxx
